Barely a month goes by without another update for security bugs.
Its really about job security, not your security.

Re: Green and nuclear power

Hydro Electric is a very clean engery source and in North America was a staple until all the Environmentalist had them taken down. It could still be viable with accommodations for fish and wildlife. It's the most effective way to generate power with regard to environmental impact. The fact is the e...

Re: GPS Maps can steer you wrong and be very dangerous to your life

I think "officials with Jackson County Roads and the Sheriff's Office" are trying to cover their asses because they blocked a main road and diverted people unto unsuitable road(s). They didn't divert anybody. The interstate was closed because there was a blizzard, the stuck people figured they coul...

Re: Tyre garages: don't trust them blindly

That seems hugely exaggerated. I used to think that and it's not generally a problem with steel wheels, but I've had an aluminum wheel loosen up after a few days so I always re-torque mine after a day. Its no fun to loose a wheel at 70 mph and if someone does after they've done a tire service, they...

By coincidence, because I wanted to put new wheel covers on them In the dark, while it was raining, with a flashlight clamped in your teeth? You know the vehicle would have made it back to the garage where they would have been happy to fix that bug for you, My tire guy recommends re-torquing the lu...

Despite what everyone else says about you setting this up, that is the default behavior no matter how you configure the install.
I've always had to disable the screen lock in the screensaver settings menu every single time I've ever installed mint.

Re: Food for thought - debunking some folk-science

Without senses, there is no external reality Without reality there is no place for the mind to exist. How does the observer observe anything without sensory equipment?. Where does the mind end and the sense begin? Do you need senses to feel the pain of a headache caused by a concussion? How about t...

Re: Why are programs allowed to overtake processor and memory to the point of stalling the system?

I fiddled with inxi, and took a look at the CPU and GPU temperatures, and wondered what they ought to be. This I think is the most likely cause, as electrical components heat up the conductivity goes down so the hotter the machine runs the less efficient the components are. They have to draw more c...

Yes. OK, settled. And to Portreve: as you see, this is in fact and at least once you got the right "picture" just high-school trigonometry; no advanced mathematics in sight yet You may be able to change the position of where the laser spot will appear faster than light, but the spot won't appear un...

It's not a miracle drug though.
I agree, the effects are pretty mild, some of those concentrates are fairly strong but I find chamomile tea just about as effective for a sleep aid.

So Hemp and marijuana are classified as cannabis but are two different plants. I was thinking more in terms of scientific definition than legal. I remember talking to a guy at a hempfest a couple of years ago who was talking about new laws concerning hemp but I never checked it out. By scientific de...

Since I am deadly allergic to marijuana, I wonder if I will get the same reaction to CBD? I'd check with your doctor! Great idea, I don't relish the idea of using an epi-pen. I doubt your doctor will be able to tell you which of the alkaloids present in cannabis is responsible for your allergy, alt...

I am all about personal liberty and freedom, I'm just not interested in actively recruiting AOLuserz to the platform, that's all. What about the freedom of the creators of intellectual content? I'm not interested at this point in my life of having platform-using peers who lack critical self-determination. I don't know if that makes me a bad person, but I really just no longer have room for intellectual laziness or uncuriousness. So you're not interested in individual freedom at all, just ...
