Re: Unwanted line in Libre Office Writer, 5

Possibly you have created a footnote or an endnote. In those cases such a line appears at the bottom of the page to divide them from the main text.

Re: How to integrate VirtualBox into 18.3 Cinnamon?

VB looks indeed somehow strange in some details (but not in the parts as shown in the picture). This is because of the complete switch to QT5 since 5.1. Nothing what can be changed.

Re: [Solved]Updates available keeps showing

Yes, this has been changed and it is somehow consequential. Level 3 / 4 updates are not meant to get skipped, as the help file for the update manager describes, but to be handled with some extra care. Timeshift is one of the possibilities for this extra care.

Re: Installation broken beyond repair?!

You described it yourself perfectly: Hopelessly broken. Only a fresh beginning can give you hope and the system back.

Remember for the future, that nightly builds are pre-alpha software. Everything can happen by installing them. They are meant for experienced users on a spare test system.

Re: Can't disable screen lock

There is obviously a complete misunderstanding on your site: If you log out, than you do not get the screen lock page (screen can only get locked, as long as the user is logged in), but you are in the login page. You should have noted, that this looks quite different than the lock screen. If you wan...

Re: Mint iso download disappeared

A file does not vanishes without a reason. Near to sure you have deleted it erroneously. Look into your trash bin. Otherwise: this is usually no problem, as you can re-download it again.

Re: How to make the login/lock screen clock am/pm rather than 24hr

Activate the option to set a custom format. In the default format replace the letter H with an I (big i).

Or, if you want to get 12 hour format in general: Deactivate the 24 hour option in the Date & Time settings of the system.

Re: Can't disable screen lock

The settings as shown in the picture should to what you want.

Please create a fresh new test account and do inside no changes except those as shown in the picture. Does it behave the same? You should for the test only be logged into the test account, not at the same time in the main account.

Re: Lost the clock on the Task Bar

as for Taskbar, it is at the bottom of the screen, and I have, and millions of others have called it that for nearly 40 years.... I have been IT support for Windows as long as that stuff existed, and still use it in my office. This example does not match. In Windows the Taskbar is indeed a (more or...

Re: What are the source code repos used for?

If you are a normal user, who has not the knowledge or the interest to modify and compile software on your own, those source code repos have no use for you. In the contrary, they make the list of added PPAs far less readable. So you can remove them without any disadvantage. (Just as for the official...

Re: Can't disable screen lock

What is your version of Mint and what is the desktop environment? If you don't know open a terminal and enter:

Code: Select all

inxi -Sz

Paste the output here.

What exactly does not work? Does the screen actually lock or does it simply gets blank?

Re: Looking for details of a Working New VirtualBox on Mint 18.3

No, I wrote: devices menu of the running VM (= guest). Note, that guest additions get installed inside of a VM. Don't mix it with the extension pack, which gets installed in VB itself. Another point regarding the usage of USB devices inside of VMs: Are you in the host member of the group vboxusers? ...

The matching guest additions are part of the downloaded VB install. They are directly reachable from inside of the running VMs via the devices menu.

Re: Desklets Refreshing the Cache error

Obviously the problem is not in your Mint, but in your Internet connection.

Try to restart the router. Disconnect it from the power line, wait a minute or 2, plug the power cord in again and wait, until the router has completely booted.

Re: Looking for details of a Working New VirtualBox on Mint 18.3

I wonder why you use the release candidate for VB? Download the current version and also the matching extension pack. As this is a minor update you install the current VB on top of the existing install.
