Re: Restoring 32bit to 64bit

If you switch the archiecture, you need to install the programs anew. You cannot use 32 bit applications in a 64 bit environment. Regarding TB: Should be no problem, except you have an extension, which is explicitly designed for 32 bit. I have tested this case several years ago, where I copied a TB ...

Never!. And too many companies have already lost too many data about their customers and such.

But even assumed this: Why do they need separate accounts in this case at all?

Re: Un-met dependancies in repos

Funny: Nickname is Cinnamon32, but used environment is KDE. But I wonder which Mint? What is your version of Mint and what is the desktop environment? If you don't know open a terminal and enter: inxi -Sz Paste the output here. You need to give this information for every help request in every thread...

I can hardy imagine, that in an environment at work people do not have to create and store files, e-mails and whatever, which survive a reboot.

Re: Trouble installing a tar.gz program

I didn't see one offered on the official site so it is understandable that the OP may not have found it, in fact I couldn't find a .deb at all. Can you provide a link? Hm, I'm astonished. On the page, which has been linked by Hoser Rob, the advice for adding the PPA is hard to overlook in the secti...

Re: Same desktop

Seems hardly to be doable. How do you want the users to do changes, which the others do not have? (Besides that I wonder, what shall be the practical meaning of that.) What you can do: Do the settings for one user. If you are ready, you can copy all the hidden files and folders to the other user acc...

Re: software management does not work

The .cache/dconf/ output is to be expected, because of an old bug in Mint's update manager. But what did you replace by "......."?

Re: Black Screen after enabling Intel Microcode(open source) on Linux Mint 18.3

I suggest, instead of removing the content of the folder intel-ucode, to rename this folder to intel-ucode.bck. This leaves the possibility to revert the step.

Re: guest mode??

Assumed, that "guest mode" means "guest account", than auto-login is not a problem, as it is not possible to auto-login to the guest account. Simply login out should be enough.

There is a PPA offered for Ubuntu and Mint. Why not using this?

I know what my main admin password is as I obviously have to use this to get updates etc.
How that? Mint 13 doesn't get updates since nearly 1 year. Urgent time to upgrade the system, which has more security holes as you can count.

Besides that I think, that only the mail provider can help.

Re: Nemo 3.6.5 on Cinnamon searchbar not editable

I cannot reproduce.

Create a fresh new user account and check the behavior there.

Did the problem exist from the beginning after installing 18.3 or a later timeß

Is this a fresh installl of 18.3 or upgraded from a previous version?

Re: Mint Update initially fails, but works after rebooting

I started mintupdate from the command line (sudo /usr/bin/mintupdate) The general mistake Never start any graphical program via sudo. It does create problems. Check the ownership in your account: Mark the following command and press ctrl-c find $HOME ! -user $USER -type f open a terminal and press ...

Re: no icons of running soft in taskbar

There is not much what I can identify on the video, but as far as I can see, there doesn't seem to be an icon for the update manager. I wonder why.

Re: no icons of running soft in taskbar

With my old eyes this video has the same meaning, as if you watch your smartphone out of a distance of 10 meter and shall recognize, what it displays. So forget it.

If you would responded somehow to my last advice, I could have read it.

Re: no icons of running soft in taskbar

The video is far too tiny for my eyes; I cannot identify anything.

Try this:
Right click the pane on an empty (!) place and select to add an applet. Now look for the sys tray applet and check, if it is marked a being added to the panel Add it, if this is not the case,

Re: Shutdown issue - Keyring-Daemon still running

The only thing, which can be said reliably is, that this behaves very unreliable. The problem does sometimes go and later it reappears. It seems, that there is a race condition problem, triggered since Cinnamon 3.4 by whatever.

Most likely this is at now the only working workaround.

Re: language mixture

Regarding Thunderbird (I cannot comment to the other 2):
Close TB.
Open synaptic and select the package thunderbird-locale-it (assumed, you want to run in in Italian language); select the command to reinstall.
