Re: The MASTER KDE CE update thread!

Sadly I will not be using this. The window theme is ugly like a box of ugly stick and it does not see my wireless card again. This is the third laptop that Mint does not see wireless cards on. While some other Ubuntu based OSs work just fine. Problem with them is I hate Gnome. But it seems that I am...

Re: Webcams and Apps

My laptop has a web cam on it, that might be working but I have no way of telling.
What program would I use to check?

Mint for the EeePC

Is there a Mint for the EeePC?
Just wondering, Using Eeebuntu on mine instead of what came on it. But it would be nice to have a Mint KDE release for the EeePC.

Re: Remove Firefox, Replace T'bird with Kontact in Mint KDE 6

Well when I switched to Linux a couple of years ago, I choose KDE as the lay out is similar to windows. Gnome to me looks too cartoonish for my taste. As far as Internet Browsers go Firefox is leaps and bounds above Konqueror. I do like Konqueror as a file manager though. Also most who switch to li...

Re: Remove Firefox, Replace T'bird with Kontact in Mint KDE 6

I say no. There are very few plugins for Konq, where there are many for FF. FF gives a better user experiance. Konq is probably a good browser for people who know linux well but if you want people to think about using Mint instead of Windows, you need to keep some things in it that they will recogni...

Wireless on Acer Aspire 7520-5185

I have looked for the drivers for my wireless card and have had no luck. I have tried many different distros, and many of them run the LapTop just fine with the exception of no Wireless. The Card on the Acer is a "Atheros AR5007EG Wireless Network Adapter" Can anyone point me in the direction of the...

Re: Alive?

Very true. Linux mint has become my favorite distribution. I use the KDE version on most everything. Occasionally I play with the Gnome and XFCE releases. Occasionally I run in to some one who has a very old, low powered PC, they can not afford a new one but need a new OS because the old windows ins...

Re: Mini edition?

So how is this coming along. I am looking for a debian based distro that is very small with KDE. I found slax linux and it is just about perfect but for a few things. 1. it has no installer 2. there is no fire fox 3. there are no package managers. A friend of mine has a very old IBM tower with only ...

Re: The MASTER KDE CE update thread!

Anyway you may be happy to hear that Mint 6 KDE will be based on KDE 4.n Personally, NO this does not make me very happy. I have ZERO plans to move to 4.x any time in the near or short term future. When 4.x is at the level of 3.5.x AND they drop completely their "rethink" on how I should use MY PC ...

Need help with Wireless

I have a new acer Lap top and Mint does not see the internal wireless card at all. My LT does not have a PCMCIA card slot or I would have a fix. It has the new express slot in it. I was wondering if anyone new of a particular wireless express card that I can just plug in to the LT and mint will see ...

Re: CNR on Mint

Use to be a big Linspire user. Not any more. So much over there has gone to h*ll in a hand basket it aint funny. I had a CNR acct back when I was using Linspire 5.0 and they started working on 6.0 and it broke everything about CNR for 5.0. I purchased many programs through CNR/CNB and when they did ...

We much appreciate all funding - Mint is not a rich distro. Here's a link for that

Re: Mint Gnome & XFCE

Cool. I guess my real question was, Does XFCE use the Gnome GUI or is XFCE its own GUI? The 3.0 release looked very much like...say Ubuntu but green. I was using the XFCE 3.0 Later I noticed that there was a 4.0 release, and am now using it instead. I am very impressed with what the Mint team does w...

Re: Daryna XFCE CE Status

 I got to tell y'all. I was using XFCE Cassandra on my oldest PC not realizing that the 4.0 beta was up for grabs. So I downloaded it and burned it and am now installing it. The funny thing about it is this. Daryna XFCE 4.0 runs faster from the CD than Cassandra does off the hard drive. This gi...

Well kick me blarney stones. You guys are from Ireland?

That is so cool. I have a little bit of the Irish in me and have always been very proud of it.

I'm glad to know that Ireland leads the pack in top notch Linux products.

Mint Gnome & XFCE

Hi all. :D Was wondering if some one could answer this. I am using Mint XFCE on an old tower I have and it does a very good job. I have never been a Gnome fan, and XFCE looks like Gnome. As I said it does a great job on this tower which relieves me of having to use the windows ME that came on it. An...

Re: Dreamlinux

Dream Linux is a nice looking distro. It looks very much like Apple OSX BUT!!! the installer that Dream uses is difficult for some one like me since it requires one to repartition the hard drive manually. I have no idea hot that is done. And as much as I use to want to try it, I no longer care. I ha...
