Re: Nemo displays in date order in Rebecca 17.1

Yes it indeed works if I create a new user. That gave me the idea of trying each property one by one in dconf and setting it back to default. Eventually, I found out that the bug comes from "ignore-view-metadata", which corresponds to the option "Ignore per-folder view preferences". When set to "tru...

Re: Nemo displays in date order in Rebecca 17.1

Thanks, I've just tried it but unfortunately it didn't fix the issue. I'm really confused why something has simple as default sorting is not working :(

Re: Nemo displays in date order in Rebecca 17.1

I've recently upgraded to Mint 17.2 and I'm still having the same issue. As can be seen in the screenshot below the default sort order is set to "name": http://imgur.com/xQd7xQb.png However the default sort order is always by last modified date. In fact, maybe that's part of the issue, but when I tr...

Re: Screen stays black after resume (Mint 17.2)

Ok this is fixed. I've solved it by installing an older version of the NVidia driver, NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-352.21.run

Screen stays black after resume (Mint 17.2)

I've recently upgraded to 17.2 from 17.1 and since then my laptop doesn't resume from sleep properly. The screen stays black even though the rest is working (like if some music is running in the background I can hear it). Same problem if I switch off my laptop monitor, I can't put it back on. I didn...

Removing "hidden" application

I've got a version of Sublime Text 2 on my laptop that I cannot completely uninstall. I've removed the folder where the executable was stored, and the application doesn't show up in the Linux Mint Menu. However it stills shows up in Synapse and in the "Open With..." menu of Dolphin. So I think the a...

Re: Cannot get external speakers to work

Sorry, I should have provided more details. The two output devices are these: - Built-in Audio Analog Stereo - HDA NVidia Digital Stereo I think the only relevant one if the first one (the second might be for the HDMI port), and that's the one that I always select. Again, it works fine for the inter...

Re: Cannot get external speakers to work

I've just tried to boot from USB but got the same problem with no sound. The speakers definitely work, I've used them under OS X and Windows without a problem, it's really weird that it doesn't work with Linux Mint. Is there anything else I can try to find out what the problem is?

Any suggestion about this problem? How would I go about debugging this?

Re: Nemo displays in date order in Rebecca 17.1

I forgot to mention I've already tried that. The value is set to ['name', 'size', 'type', 'date_modified']. Just to be sure I cleared the dconf cache as well, but it's still sorted by Last Modified Date.

The strange thing is that even if I remove this column, it's still sorted by it by default.

Re: Nemo displays in date order in Rebecca 17.1

I've got the exact same problem, the views are always sorted by "Date Modified" when Nemo starts, even though I've selected Sort by Name. I've tried "Reset View to Defaults" but that didn't help, and I'd rather not delete my dconf preferences. Is there any other way to fix this issue?

Cannot get external speakers to work

I have an Asus ROG G751JY laptop with Linux Mint 17.1 (Cinnamon) and I cannot get the external speakers to work (or headphones). When I plug something in, the sound keeps going to the internal speaker, as if nothing was plugged in. I've tried on Windows and got no probem, so it's not a hardware prob...

Re: How to disable Alt Gr + Space shortcut

Yes that was it - in the layout options, the option "Using space key to input non-breakable space character" was set to "Default". I've set it to "Usual space at any level" and now I always get a regular space character. Thanks a lot for the help! :)

Re: How to disable Alt Gr + Space shortcut

It does it in both Terminator and the regular Mint Terminal, also in Sublime Text so I don't think it's something specific to an application.

I wonder if it could be related to my keyboard layout (French AZERTY), maybe some key combinations are setup on this layout but not on others?

Re: How to disable Alt Gr + Space shortcut

I've just had look but I didn't see it there. I guess it's more like all the special letters that show up when pressing Alt Gr + Letter. For example, with "A", it's "â", with "E", it's "€". This is fine, but with space it gives this special space character, which often breaks my code or command lines.

[Solved] How to disable Alt Gr + Space shortcut

I sometime accidentally press Alt Gr + Space, instead of just Space. It prints what looks like a space character however it somehow different. At first it took me a while to figure out why when I was typing something like "git branch | sort", it would print "No command ' sort' found", eventually I f...

Re: Black screen on boot

Well I guess I'm lucky today as it seems Mint fixed itself. I didn't do anything and now it boots right away.

Hopefully it will stay like this, and if it doesn't I'll try your fixes. Thanks again!

Re: Black screen on boot

Thanks I'll give that a try next time I reboot. My experience with Mint so far is that every time I reboot something new stops working, so I avoid it

Black screen on boot

I'm on Linux Mint 17.1 and for some reason when I boot there is only a black screen. It doesn't matter how long I wait, there is nothing displayed. The strange thing is that if I start from the Safe Mode menu, then select "Resume", it works fone. So for now this is how I boot, but I'd like to find o...
