Re: [Solved] Mint 20 Cinnamon Installer Crash: Errno 13 Permission Denied
Thanks for the additional info!
If I want to re-use a USB thumb drive, what is the best procedure?
Perhaps it would be:
- Use gparted to delete all partitions
- Use Disks (or whatever) to do a quick reformat (without overwriting)

Re: Mint 20 Cinnamon Installer Crash: Errno 13 Permission Denied
Thanks for persevering with my endless questions and observations. While you were writing your most-recent suggestion, I was in the process of creating a fresh LiveUSB using a brand-new thumb drive (right out of the package) and using the .iso image writer you suggested. I popped this new LiveUSB in...

Re: Mint 20 Cinnamon Installer Crash: Errno 13 Permission Denied
I guess I'm going to use a brand-new USB drive formatted NTFS, and use the Image-Writer tool you suggested (instead of Unetbootin) to make a new LiveUSB, then give this another shot.

Re: Mint 20 Cinnamon Installer Crash: Errno 13 Permission Denied
Thanks for the suggestion, Welcome. I deleted the partitions on the SSD, so it is now all unallocated space (466GB). Unfortunately, the installer continues to crash with the exact same message as before. The Disks utility shows the Samsung SSD as a single partition "Free Space" 500 GB To m...

[Solved] Mint 20 Cinnamon Installer Crash: Errno 13 Permission Denied
I have a Dell Latitude E6400 laptop containing a Samsung SSD with MX Linux installed. I want to replace MX Linux with Mint 20 Cinnamon. I downloaded the .iso and verified it as instructed. I then used Unetbootin to create a bootable USB. I booted from the thumb drive and found working with the LiveU...

Re: [SOLVED] Need Help with grsync Sessions
Upon further and further review --------- When I started this thread, I was using a year-old installation of grsync. When I would hit the ADD button to create a new session configuration, it would clear all the basic and advanced options, so I would have to enter all of my normal flags, filters, etc...

Re: [SOLVED] Need Help with grsync Sessions
In my newest set of tests, I have determined how my saved sessions were getting corrupted. The problem arises because I am trying to design a new session configuration BASED ON AN EXISTING CONFIGURATION. That is, I already have set most of the flags and other settings I almost always used, and all I...

Re: [SOLVED] Need Help with grsync Sessions
Sorry for late response. Was traveling for a couple of days. I've done the additional re-install, and am now running a bunch of experiments with the fresh install. If I run into more strangeness, I will document it and post here. Nevertheless, I still find the design of the "Sessions" func...

Re: [SOLVED] Need Help with grsync Sessions
Thanks for your input, cliffcoggin. Obviously, I can use all the help I can get on this seemingly simple issue. And I'm sure your advice is correct. However, in my particular case, when I add the new session according to LanceM's instructions (which are the same as those found elsewhere on the web),...

Re: [SOLVED] Need Help with grsync Sessions
LanceM, Thank you very much for all your help in this thread. I think I stopped learning new things about Linux during the past year or two, and settled into just being a "user." Linux Mint xfce runs so flawlessly for me, I guess I just got lazy. You've gotten me interested in getting a de...

Re: [SOLVED] Need Help with grsync Sessions
By the way, I followed up on your suggestion to visit https://easylinuxtipsproject.blogspot.com/p/clean-mint.html#ID1 In reviewing my list of resident kernels, I found that I have precisely 100 kernels on my system. These range from 4.15.0-20 to the currently active 5.4.0-42. Four of these are marke...

Re: [SOLVED] Need Help with grsync Sessions
Thanks for your perseverance in helping me here. I feel pretty foolish by continuing to fumble this simple task. Can you tell me the exact sequence of steps you take to make the sessions save as you do? - Let's say you have your A to V-128 session open in grsync. You can see its source and target fo...

Re: [SOLVED] Need Help with grsync Sessions
Upon further review --------- The thorough re-install did get grsync working more correctly, in that I can now create and save a new Session configuration within the GUI. grsync correctly adds the new Session configure to the drop-down menu. Unfortunately, I discovered that it ALSO wrote this same n...

Re: [SOLVED] Need Help with grsync Sessions
The output from the purge command exceeded my terminal buffer, so I lost most of the output. At the start, it was listing a ton of Linux headers and other seemingly system-related items. I'm not adept enough to know what all these things meant. As this purge ran for something like 20 minutes, I figu...

Re: Need Help with grsync Sessions
As LanceM suggested, I ran the clean and the purge commands before reinstalling grsync one more time. That fixed the problem with the ADD button procedure. Sessions can now be saved and added to the drop-down menu without the need to export each new session. The new settings are automatically append...

Re: Need Help with grsync Sessions
Thanks for your suggestions, Flemur. As I mentioned earlier in the thread, I do use the Sessions > Export function to save my configurations. I export the settings as a text file, then copy those settings into the grsync.ini file, which then causes them to appear as a new option in the drop-down men...

Re: Need Help with grsync Sessions
I guess what I don't comprehend is: How does grsync know when I am done inputting all my criteria? Normally, you would hit something like SAVE at that point. Here, it seems like running a simulation or execution is the act that does the save. But what if the simulation doesn't go well, and you need ...

Re: Need Help with grsync Sessions
Oh, and before I do another re-install, I meant to ask this question (which I should have done at the start): What is the correct specific procedure for saving a session configuration? The various "tutorials" I have read tell me to - Hit the ADD button - Give the session a name - Enter the...

Re: Need Help with grsync Sessions
Thanks, LanceM.
I'm away from my home base right now, but will try your suggestion when I get back home.
It looks like your instructions are something I should have learned by now, and will be useful to me going forward.
I will check back in with my results!
Thanks, again.
