OMG can't believe it. that did the trick thanks. i don't know why poxy is enabled by defualt in the browser setting. thanks again.

At mom's place FB has always been sluggish in windows just though it was her/this old pc. everything about this issue is odd. It maybe FB but it could be the ISP's too. no really way tell for sure. all i know is that the dns change has helped alot. It not a fix but the problem doesn't happen as much.

disregard previous post im back to the same old problem. although im keeping the dns changes as i have noticed a faster over all load time of pages.

so i was playing around and decided to change my dns. so far its working firefox still loads slow, but everything is loading. google chrome however has been really smooth and loading how is should be. if you want to try it. download and run namebench. it will check for the fastest and most stable dn...

i just find it really odd that i don't have any issues in windows, but the problem is persistent in mint.

sounds like you have the defualt recommended ati (driver wrapper) you can either enable or install fglrx driver. on the other hand i would just goto http://support.amd.com/en-us/download and download the propietary from amd. hen your choosing the os select linux_x86 for 32-bit or linux x86_64 for 64...
