Extensions Menu in Chrome/Chromium

Ran across a HowToGeek article on enabling the experimental Extensions menu in Chrome and Chrome based (Brave, etc). This is way cool.

Re: Problems installing Brave browser...

I've been using Brave as my primary browser for several months. Works fine for most sites and is blazingly fast. There is a problem with Posteo webmail which is being actively worked on, but since I use Thunderbird for IMAP access to Posteo it doesn't bother me.

Re: NordVPN on LinuxMint

Hi there.. Installed Linuxmint onto my laptop, and went about installing NordVPN. I followed the steps to logon, which was successful. I would like to know how to create an "autoexec.bat" type file (not being a user of Linux) so that this will run on startup, so that I dont have to go through this ...

I wonder how this will affect Brave, which is Chromium based but has the ad blocker built-in. By the way, Brave makes a really good, fast browser for Android. Give it a try.
I asked this question on the Brave forum. Here's the answer I got:

Re: Chrome

Primary browser is Firefox with DuckDuckGo search engine. I use Chrome with Google search engine (Google is still the best search engine) if DuckDuckGo is not finding what I want and for Google Earth. Figure that Google is tracking everything I do with Chrome anyway, so using Google to search does ...

Re: Whiskey ...

My taste has changed over the years. I've gone from Single Malt Scotch to Irish to Bourbon, back to Scotch and now back to Bourbon. For awhile it was Maker's Mark but that's a bit too expensive. At present it's Ezra Brooks 90-proof with a little water. Good enough for me as a reasonably priced every...

Re: VPN options

Brand new to this subject. The idea of adding VPN protection appeals to me. Specially for the laptops and tablets. Wondering if it makes any difference which provider is selected in order to use one account with types of hardware? Latest purchase is a Samsung Android tablet. I see where PIA VPN has...

Re: What is/was your experience with off brand ink?

It's often been said that Gilette sells razor blades, not razors. Same with printer companies. I have an HP Officejet 4650 and have had several HP printers in the past. I have had very good luck buying re-manufactured ink cartridges from Amazon and Ebay. I did have a very cheap Canon printer from Be...

Set the default email client in Brave browser [Solved]

I'm running Cinnamon 19.1 and Brave browser Version 0.64.76. My default email client is Thunderbird. Clicking on a Mailto: link in Chromium, Chrome or Firefox opens a Thunderbird composition window. Doing the same in Brave opens Gmail. I can't find any setting in Brave, and the Brave help center is ...

Highlight Mouse Pointer Position [Solved]

I've got a dual monitor setup and sometimes it takes a few seconds to locate the mouse pointer. I remember in the distant past Windows had a shortcut key to make the pointer flash temporarily and wondered if there's some way to do this or something similar in Mint. Anybody?

NordVPN latest client updates cause "Printer added" when disconnecting

Following the latest flurry of updates to the NordVPN Linux client, whenever I disconnect from the VPN (nordvpn d) I get a notice that a printer has been added to the system. No printer is actually added, though. This happens whether or not the Nord notify is set. I've chatted with the Nord tech and...

has anyone tried to update the keys by sudo apt update?...DAMIEN

Code: Select all

sudo apt update
Haven't tried that, but the problem solved itself. Guess Google fixed the problem. Everything works now.
