Re: HP Photosmart 5520 doesn't print duplex
I'd posted elsewhere about a similar problem - choosing simplex or duplex seems to either have no relation to which my printer does (Brother) or it does the opposite. Maybe you mentioning the restart could be part of it - as in, I set one, it doesn't work. A week later I do a print and again it's t...

Re: HP Photosmart 5520 doesn't print duplex
Kobalt, I'm not educated enough to provide more help to you than what I have offered. I am sorry and hope that someone more knowledgeable in printing/printers use in Linux will step in and do a better job than me helping you. Good luck. Sundowner, I'm really grateful for your help, thanks again. Al...

Re: HP Photosmart 5520 doesn't print duplex
Thanks for the screenshot. I did it exactly as you mentioned though. :( And trying again doesn't solve the problem. Still, the printer is printing single-sided although duplex mode is chosen. When not setting the duplex mode via the printer settings page from an application (e. g. LibreOffice), but ...

HP Photosmart 5520 doesn't print duplex
Hi there, as the title says. I cannot figure out how to print double sided. When printing something (e. g. a document from LibreOffice), there are two options for duplex printing: long-sided, short-sided. On choosing one of them and printing, it simply DOES NOT print double sided but keeps printing ...

Re: Ejecting usb flash drive makes its led blinking
Well, not sure if it is called Disks, but when you have the file window open, on the left side you have the list with the hard drives and the flash drive. If you click on the arrow symbol (triangle with a line at the bottom) next to the flash drive, there is the option "eject" and that is ...

Ejecting usb flash drive makes its led blinking
Hi there,
on ejecting the flash drive its led light starts blinking (tried different usb slots). I would expect the led light to turn off completely. Is the blinking the signal I can remove it, or what does this mean? Internet research doesn't lead to an explanation.
Thanks for your help.

Re: "No signal" at the monitor on starting the computer
So please keep that in mind, and don't piggyback on other people's topics. Thanks! That was really not my intention. I just thought it might help to support this topic as it seemed related. Thanks for separating into a new thread though. If you are getting no signal as soon as you power on, then I ...

"No signal" at the monitor on starting the computer
I thought about starting up a new thread, but as I found this one , I thought, it may be related. I experience "no signal" at the monitor on starting the computer for a rather long while (1-2 minutes), sometimes it stays stuck that way, sometimes suddenly the Mint boot symbol (green Mint-&...

Re: Resolution not scaling correctly to TV (2)
I did some testing and changing the xrandr --panning command won't help. Try these commands: xrandr --output HDMI-1 --mode 1680x1050 --panning 1680x1050 --transform 1.1,0,-87,0,1.1,-59,0,0,1 xrandr --output HDMI-1 --mode 1680x1050 --transform 1.1,0,-87,0,1.1,-59,0,0,1 I tried these now. They do not...

Re: Resolution not scaling correctly to TV (2)
I would prefer to have this setting at the login screen already. Open the File Manager. Create a document in Home (/home/your-user-name) named .login and add the xrandr command. Right click on the file and select Properties > Permissions . Mark the checkbox next to Allow executing file as program ....

Re: Resolution not scaling correctly to TV (2)
1) Really a major issue: After restarting the pc, the transform settings are reset, obviously. I have to run this command again (after every restart of the pc). How to set these transform setting permanently? Open Startup Applications and click the plus sign to create a Custom command . For the Com...

Re: Resolution not scaling correctly to TV (2)
Thanks for this hint and clear explanation. It works for me with these settings: xrandr --output HDMI-1 --panning 1680x1050 --transform 1.1,0,-87,0,1.1,-59,0,0,1 It has two major drawbacks though. Maybe you can hint me how to solve this, too: 1) Really a major issue: After restarting the pc, the tra...

Re: Resolution not scaling correctly to TV (2)
Thanks for your reply, roblm! The first option would make it necessary to find out how to get into the mode, which TV techs can access. As I have no clue how to do this atm., I prefer the second option and present my xrandr output for examination: ~$ xrandr Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1680 ...

[SOLVED] Resolution not scaling correctly to TV (2)
Hi there, a similar topic is found here: https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=59&t=326794 , but before messing with modelines I'd like to ask if that is really my last chance. Problem: Linux Mint is showing up as expected but the Login screen and the Desktop is not scaled correctly, henc...

Re: Installed Manufacture's Drivers; still no Duplex printing
Thanks again for your reply! I found a very simple solution and maybe also an explanation for this behaviour. The printer in question has no automatic duplex unit, which means principically it isn't able to duplex print, hence the Canon driver doesn't allow for a "double-sided" choice for ...

This is a known phenomenon. You may have a look at this guide: viewtopic.php?f=42&t=318453
I hope this helps to restore your system, but as far as I see you are in the right track already.

Thanks for your replies!
Well, unfortunately your advices didn't solve the issue.
Do you know if the gutenprint drivers are used in Linux Mint? I can see in the package manager that gutenprint is installed but am not sure if they explicitly are used as native drivers by Mint.
Thanks in advance.

[SOLVED] Installed Manufacture's Drivers; still no Duplex printing
Hi everybody, Hardware: OS: Linux Mint 19.3, 64bit, Cinnamon. Printer: Canon PIXMA TS5055. I used to use the printer driver which was installed by Linux Mint right away. It works for basic tasks very well. Still, I missed esp. the duplex (double sided) printing function. This means the duplex option...

Re: Timeshift screwed up system: Snapshots in Timeshift are hidden now?
The TimeShift program maintains a configuration file in the head directory of each snapshot. I believe the configuration file is probably missing due to an unexpected termination or inability to write the file due the file system space exhaustion. Please provide the output from the following comman...
