Wow! 2 years later and this bug still hasn't been fixed?

I've just run into it myself, trying this workaround: http://unix.stackexchange.com/questions ... -waking-up

I don't have any firewall installed on my computer and there's no firewall/NAT between these two PCs.

Do I need to specifically open this port with iptables? That wasn't a part of any of the guides I've read.

Howto get X to listen for TCP connections?

I've edited a few files that should have done the trick, I thought: $ cat /etc/X11/xinit/xserverrc #!/bin/sh exec /usr/bin/X "$@" I also tried "exec /usr/bin/X -listen tcp "$@"" here. $ cat /etc/mdm/mdm.conf ... [security] DisallowTCP=false ... $ cat /usr/share/mdm/defaults.conf [security] ... # If ...

Upgrade Mint 17.3 from 32 bit to 64 bit

Is it possible to upgrade without having to back up all my files and having to redo all my customizations to Mint? (will reformatting be required?) I was dual booted into windows for a few minutes today and noticed I was running 32 bit software on a 64 bit cpu. For some reason I thought this old lap...

Re: Nemo Slow to Load Folders [Linux Mint 14 Cinnamon]

"nemo-media-columns" is the "bad guy", even it isn't used in the "detailed list" view. Just wanted to add another data point in favor of the above approach: the slowness of Nemo has plagued me as it has others - but it wasn't until mideal 's heroic post quoted above that I found Nirvana: sudo apt-g...

Chrome, Dropbox, and other icons missing from system tray

Has anyone found a way to fix this other than going in panel edit mode and moving around one of the icons to get the missing ones to show?

This seems to have been an issue for years and there's been a lot of threads on suggestions to get it working. I haven't found one that works for me though.

Gnome Screenshot buggy since upgrade to Mint Cinnamon 17.2

I upgraded to Linux Mint 17.2 Cinnamon today and gnome-screenshot has stopped working properly most of the time. Most of the time when I try to take a screenshot now the area being captured is replaced by a grey box that can't be closed and you can't see anything behind it. I have to manually kill g...

Thanks so much for that link!

Step 1: Uninstall gnome-disk-utility
Step 2: Do this:

Code: Select all

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:mc3man/trusty-tests
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install gnome-disk-utility
All better now? Enjoy!

[WORKAROUND] Errors galore in gnome-disk utility.

It seems gnome-disk-utility is pretty limited in what it can do for me. Half the things I try give me errors like this: Error Creating Disk Image Error allocating space for disk image file: Invalid argument (g-io-error-quark, 13) I saw in another post that installing gdisk would get rid of the error...

Is XDMCP possible with Linux Mint 17.1?

I know it's been removed from MDM. Might also have been removed from lightDM?

Is there any way to get XDMCP working?

If not, what's the closest alternative? I really liked the idea of running X locally to connect to a remote machine and I'd really love to try it.

Re: How can I find what process is hanging?

You might try switching to one of the terminals (Ctrl-Alt-F1 through Ctrl-Alt-F6), logging in, and running the 'top' program. That will tell you what processes are running, and how much of the processor time and memory they are using. I've tried that. There's nothing that stands out to me as being ...

Re: Display turning off (Using Kodi as window manager)

if I SSH in and run this after Kodi has started it solves the issue.

Code: Select all

$ xset -display 0:0 -dpms s off
I've tried putting it in /etc/rc.local and /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc and it doesn't seem to be working. Running too early? There a better place to put this so it will run later?
