Re: I cant open the software manager and also I cant install .deb packages

I don't have either of those .list files on my computer. Maybe you can try to rename them and try again. Here try this: Open up the file explorer I use Caja, but you may use something else. Click "File System" on the left. Click on the folder named etc Click the folder named apt Right Click the fold...

Re: Mint install on Dell M6500?

Full disclosure, I am a rank amateur at this sort of thing. I am mystified by most of what I read on the forum. My greatest hope is to leave behind Windows and learn to work in Linux Mint. It sounds simple, download, burn to disc, arrange boot order and done.....so far, not done. I wonder if I am o...

Re: Triple Monitor Setup

Man, I had triple monitors in a pyramid shape for a while. It's a gargantuan pain in the @$$. I got it working but only after manually configuring the xorg.conf file. There are also randr and xrandr options but I had little luck with those and ended up finally having to manually do it ultimately hav...

Re: Permanent Mount Linux Share at Boot

This might help. https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=157&t=322104&p=1829690#p1829690 The HDD connected to the router is a samba share and these instructions would apply to all network shares that are mountable. Re: Help With Lag In Games - Driver Check?

So I just wanted to point out another option i have been using for many years. Codeweavers Crossover is an awesome software for using Windows software on Linux and MAC. You have to pay for it but its sooo worth it. You simply select the game/software you want and it does everything for you. Installs...

Re: After install mint 20 grub is not working

you might need to use a windows disk to boot the windows partition. you can also try to reinstall Linux (without encryption) just a quick basic install and make sure the bootloader is on the drive that windows is installed on but that may not work since the partition is encrypted. I thought the true...

Re: Switched SSD to newer comp and now won't boot

It might be booting but to a black screen due to graphics driver issues... You can try to set "nomodeset" in the GRUB config. This disables all graphics settings and drivers and basically reverts back to a generic graphics driver that will work almost all of the time. It's a little tricky to get the...

Re: Is Linux mint is most customizable os ?

I think its the most customizable without completely building your own OS from a base distro like Debian or Arch. Especially if you choose to use Compiz and install Emerald. Its really unbelievable. I remember setting up Compiz-Emerald in Ubuntu and look at magic lamp effects and the cubic desktop ...

Re: !!!!! HELP .::How to install correctly!!!!::.

1st. you need to shrink your windows partition. I assume that its originally a Windows computer with the entire storage drive assigned to the Windows OS. Here are some instructions to shrink a windows 10 drive: https://www.easeus.com/partition-master/shrink-windows-10-partition.html After that you c...

Yeah, I was just dumbfounded that this user was troubleshooting sound issues on an android tablet... I didn't know it was possible... Hopefully he responds and explains how he did it. Or, I'm completely missing something and not understanding what he is saying.

Re: Trying to install dual boot Mint/Windows10

When you install Linux Mint after installing Windows you need to install GRUB on the hard drive that Windows is on. For example, According to the Linux Mint Live USB, you have sda with Windows on it, and sdb is the platter drive that you want to install Linux Mint on. When you are going through the ...

I certainly don't want to hijack the thread and I won't post anything else on this subject after this one post.
