Re: Flashing black borders around windows with Nvidia-390 and Mint 19
I submitted a bug report similar to this one that got linked to it, but I can't see that link now so I thought I'd post my output too: # inxi -Fxz System: Host: rmw.zion.bt.co.uk Kernel: 4.15.0-36-generic x86_64 bits: 64 gcc: 7.3.0 Desktop: Cinnamon 3.8.9 (Gtk 3.22.30-1ubuntu1) Distro: Linux Mint 19...

Re: Flatpak KeePassXC problems
Thanks. The KeePassXC people have also redirected me to that issue! I've uninstalled and reinstalled as a snap, just because I've used snap before. Seems to save fine, I'm glad to say.

Flatpak KeePassXC problems
I excitedly moved from KeePassX to KeePassXC a couple of days ago when I discovered that it has some features I've been waiting for. It seemed to work really well, and I noticed it was installed seamlessly as a Flatpak. However, today is the first day I've needed to save the database and every time ...

Re: Missing options in Power Management
Thanks Cosmo, I've now got "hibernate" as the selection for "critical-battery-action". The power dialogue looks almost the same as the picture in my original post, except that the selection is now apparently nothing (as opposed to "Do nothing") i.e. empty. I've enabled ...

Laptop screen now flickers every so often
I've recently updated to 18.2 and have noticed that when I've got an external screen connected, my laptop's screen now flickers every so often. It doesn't seem to be regular, just every so often. And the external monitor does not flicker, just the laptop's screen. At first I thought it was a Chromiu...

Missing options in Power Management
Since I upgraded to 18.2, when I go to Power Management, The "When the battery is critically low" option has only one choice in the list: "Do nothing". Initially, it had nothing selected and "Do nothing" as the alternative option; when I selected "Do nothing",...

Connecting external monitor sometimes requires Mint to be forcibly powered off
I recently upgraded to LM 18.2. I experienced a problem connecting a projector via VGA yesterday. I was trying to sort out the resolution and one thing I tried was "mirror displays" but that wasn't what I wanted so I clicked the revert button. The screens both became confused, with the who...

Re: Suddenly I've got an Ubuntu logon screen
Fixed it! I discovered /var/log/apt/history.log and found the following entry to do with removing "fortune": Start-Date: 2015-02-09 09:54:18 Remove: mint-artwork-gnome:amd64 (2.6.36), fortunes-husse:amd64 (1.0.2), mint-meta-cinnamon:amd64 (2014.12.09), mint-meta-core:amd64 (2014.12.09), fo...

Suddenly I've got an Ubuntu logon screen
Hi, Yesterday I uninstalled two things that I never use: cowsay and fortune. Each of these had dependencies that it said it would also remove, so I went with it, assuming that these must no longer be needed. I'm assuming that this has resulted in the following behaviour. When I shut down last night,...
