Re: Mp4 on USB stick to watch on a TV

I also have copies on an External HD and online storage. It's also a lottery as to if they will play or not. A friend has suggested doing an md5sum. I'd appreciate any help. Thanks How are you copying them? From problems posted in this forum, you might be best off copying with 'cp' (or rsync) in a ...

Re: Mp4 on USB stick to watch on a TV

I haven't come across 'mediainfo' before. I had a quick look. Is it like an md5sum?

Mp4 on USB stick to watch on a TV

I'm a little perplexed how it works some times and not others. I download an mp4 video and save on my laptop Home. I copy that same file from my laptop Home to 2 USBs (just in case one fails). I play on a combination of Samsung and LG TVs when teaching at a school. The video plays fine on the TVs. I...

I appreciate the help. I'm not sure if I mis-typed but I'll keep it mind, should I get the problem again :)

Re: Auto Upgrade - Not Working

And if you did enable it, see this file for what happened: /var/log/mintupdate.log (yes, we desperately need GUI integration for autoupgrade issues). I'm not sure if I did this right (cat command?), it's very long, but this is what I got - make any sense? Yes, it means that your automatic upgrades ...

Re: Auto Upgrade - Not Working

I just checked again, but still the same, just the Apply option and no authentication, it just brings me back to the Update Manager Home Page. Have you rebooted recently. If not try rebooting and see if the authentication dialog pops up when you try to enable it gain. I take it from your update log...

Auto Upgrade - Not Working

I'm using Mint Cinnamon 19.1 and want to enable Auto Upgrade on the Update Manager. My Timeshift is working fine. I went to Update Manager>Preferences>Auto Upgrade>Apply. (Tried this three times over many days) I had thought it might be something that only takes effect on a reboot but I turn off my ...

Busybox (SOLVED)

I have a similar problem to the following reported on this forum section: https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=274866 (I got a shorter error message). However, it was advised to boot using the live media. A friend upgraded from Mint 18.3 to Mint 19 and so I don't have the ISO. Here's th...

Re: HP Laserjet Pro MFP M26a - Could Scan, Can't Now

Thankfully the scan function is now working. Even though I followed the HP Help instructions, a friend has taken a look and told me that the install wasn't complete. So he advised me to: sudo apt-get --reinstall install hplip Apparently, (code: rc) wasn't installed properly - I have no idea what thi...

Re: HP Laserjet Pro MFP M26a - Could Scan, Can't Now

I ran the request to install the plug-in and it said it was already installed - I ran it again anyway. I also ran the other hp commands you mentioned. Here's what I got from the last part you mention re foomatic andrew@Khelang ~ $ cd /usr/lib/cups/filter andrew@Khelang /usr/lib/cups/filter $ ln -s f...

Re: HP Laserjet Pro MFP M26a - Could Scan, Can't Now

When I run hp-check I see this: PPD: /etc/cups/ppd/HP-LaserJet-Pro-MFP-M26a.ppd warning: Failed to read /etc/cups/ppd/HP-LaserJet-Pro-MFP-M26a.ppd ppd file Also, when looking through the HP LIP help they ask us to check these: This is from my terminal output and the HP advice is that they should bot...

Re: HP Laserjet Pro MFP M26a - Could Scan, Can't Now

My apologies for not responding earlier, but I've followed the steps you kindly laid out on a few occasions over the past couple of days, which were also on the HP link you gave. When I entered hpaio--run I got "command not found". I ran sudo tail -f /var/log/syslog but it just seemed to be stuck wi...

Re: HP Laserjet Pro MFP M26a - Could Scan, Can't Now

I appreciate the help. The printer installation asked me if I wanted the plug-in when I did the installation before I posted this problem and I said yes. Is there a command line I could use to check if it did download?

HP Laserjet Pro MFP M26a - Could Scan, Can't Now (SOLVED)

I installed the printer about a month or so ago, with no problems; printed fine and Simplescan did the business. I didn't try Xsane on the HP Device Manager, so I couldn't tell if it worked. I tried to scan in the past couple of days and nothing - either using Simplescan or Xsane. I searched and not...
