Re: Epson ET-3750 scan not working on Mint 19

For the sake of completeness, I just wanted to add, that waiting paid off in this case: I've got an Epson ET-3750, connected via USB. Somehow I never managed to get the scanner to work so far, gave up in autumn... Now checked again and everything works "out of the box" with the new Epson driver/soft...

Re: Xreader: how to use default printer settings (multiple printers)

Hi Neil, Thanks for your answer. I do know how to select a specific printer; the problem is that when doing that all the settings do not change (or correspond to the Printers standard settings as set in Mint's Printer setup)... Or does it work on your machine? For example: When I select the "color p...

Xreader: how to use default printer settings (multiple printers)

Hi guys, In my daily workflow I need to print pages in colour or greyscale, one-sided or duplex. In order not to have to alter the settings for each and every print job, I duplicated my printer in Linux Mint, altered the standard settings for each instance and named them accordingly. So I've got: a)...

Re: [SOLVED] Mounting HDD taken out of RAID backup storage

Well, I fooled myself - sorry for that. I think we can keep this thread for reference - maybe someone can use it sometime...? Conclusion: The oldish SATA/USB converter was indeed to old for the new 4 TB harddrive... Accessing it directly via SATA works like a charm, so I am glad to report that...

Re: Mounting HDD taken out of RAID backup storage

Maybe it is my fault all together: the USB/SATA-converter might be to old to manage the 4 TB HDDs... Will try to find out and report back... Thanks in the meantime!

[SOLVED] Mounting HDD taken out of RAID backup storage

Hi guys! Maybe this is a simple thing or beginner's mistake... Thanks for your help: I got a new external backup device with two HDDs in RAID 1 for a secure data backup (Fantec QB-X2US3R). I got this exact device because the manual states very very clearly that a single RAID 1-disk can be accessed a...

Re: nightmare with epson XP-445 scanner

Hi squid-f,

I've got a hard time getting the Epson ET-3750 to scan (on LM 19 Cinnamon 64bit)... Also tried everything I could find in this forum and others, had no luck so far...

Also I am missing "/usr/lib/sane"... Did you find a solution yet?

Thanks and best regards

Re: [Solved] Cannot make Image Scan work in Linuxmint 19

Hi guys, I just got an Epson Ecotank ET-3750 and run into similar problems - scanner is not found on system... Your answers might also help me, but strangely I don't have a folder "/usr/lib/sane", and therefore cannot copy files from there... Is there another location I should look at, or what three...

Re: How to change user password with encrypted home dir

Thanks for the screenshot. But as I always wanted to separate system and data - in order to be able to do a clean reinstall of the OS without losing my work - I chose "Something else" and then you miss out on this option I guess... Anyways thank you, will look into it the next time! But more importa...

Re: How to change user password with encrypted home dir

Hi xenopeek, Thank you very much for your great help, that worked perfectly! To sum it up: I am on LinuxMint 19 64bit Cinnamon, have my home directory encrypted (choose so during installation), and wanted to change my user password. This worked: Open Terminal, simply run $ passwd and enter your new ...

How to change user password with encrypted home dir

Hi guys, I know there have been similar questions, but all seem to be a little bit different I didn't find an answer. So thanks a lot for your help again! It is really simple, or at least I thought it should be: (Background: I just did a clean install of LM19, but I kept the "/home" partition of my ...

Hi! Re: Cron executed, but doesn't do anything

Hi LinuxJim, Thanks a lot - that helped a lot! Don't know, why I didn't read that before, sorry... That does the trick now (at least for me): * * * * * DISPLAY=:0 opera OR * * * * * export DISPLAY=:0 && opera (Following the hint I found some good information in German here: https://wiki.ubuntuusers....

Re: Linux Mint doesn't shut down most of the time

hi again! the real world/long run test showed, that the problem is still there... when I work for a longer period of time (and not only testing booting/rebooting/shutdown relatively quickly), shutdown is still not working correctly, even with the latest 4.2 kernel! my motherboard is a couple of year...

Re: Linux Mint doesn't shut down most of the time

@ Pjotr: Update to last kernel from 3.16 didn't help. Update to kernel 3.19.0-33 seems to have fixed it! I have tested it a few times now - works perfectly so far. I didn't find any other new problems so far - but the long run will have to prove it of course... Thanks a lot!! :D @ tolkien: Thanks fo...
