Re: Bad update?

Well its a fix if you have the right driver in your list, which I don't seem to have and an apt update yields no results. System: Host: ToddsPC Kernel: 4.4.0-142-generic x86_64 (64 bit gcc: 5.4.0) Desktop: Cinnamon 3.6.7 (Gtk 3.18.9-1ubuntu3.3) Distro: Linux Mint 18.3 Sylvia Machine: System: Gigabyt...

Re: [SOLVED]Mint 18.1 Will not boot with kernel 4.4.0-143

I don't have this 340 driver in my list I have 384, 390, 396, 410, 415. This has been a problem on two different machines almost the same setup. System: Host: ******PC Kernel: 4.4.0-142-generic x86_64 (64 bit gcc: 5.4.0) Desktop: Cinnamon 3.6.7 (Gtk 3.18.9-1ubuntu3.3) Distro: Linux Mint 18.3 Sylvia ...

Re: Bad update?

It is the kernel update the link you provided is the fix. It does have to do with the Nvidia driver.

Thanks

Bad update?

I'm still using 18.3 on several different machines and I keep them up to date. I don't do it every day but it never goes more than 2 week between the updates. The last batch in the last two weeks or so, is crashing Cinnamon and going to fallback mode. All are level 1 or 2 save the last two. I normal...

Running a Minecraft server when you have a VPN

So as the title says I have a Minecraft server on my computer for the kids and a few of their friends. I just recently set up a VPN and as I figured would happen, no one can connect while the VPN is on. Now I can figure out how to let the local traffic connect. But I would like to still let the exte...

Re: Why LMDE?

So there is no goal of switching to pure Debian in the long run? I have run across a few that think they should? I'm not seeing why that would be necessary, not that I have a problem with it, other than the snails pace that Debian moves at in regards to the Kernel. (aren't they still using 3.16?) TA

Why LMDE?

What is the reason for a LMDE? I have used Debian and I couldn't rap my head around Gnome which is not a Debian problem per say its Gnome I don't like. It seems like a step backwards to me with the non active desktop. (I know it can be changed). What is so different that the Mint team deems it neces...

Re: 18.1 disapearing desktop icons?

No amount of clicking on anything will bring them back, however I can right click and open the desktop setting and set the "show icons on primary monitor only" and back again and they will come back up.

18.1 disapearing desktop icons?

So is there a fix for this bug in the works? Or should I go back to 18 for now? It also rearranges the icons to when I get them back up. As far as I can find out its a dual monitor and/or nemo thing I just cant find a fix for. This is kind of a deal breaker bug. Any help or suggestions?

Re: 18.1 Disappearing Desktop Icons

I have the same problem with my dual monitor set up and so does my boy. Any fixes or work arounds? As I understand it it is a Nemo crash, or am I off here?

Mint 18 vs Mint 17.3 for now

I have used 17.3 for some time now and I love it I no longer dual boot, now I use Mint exclusively, its a rare occasion I will log onto my winblows drive. I waited a few weeks to give 18 a whirl and I really like some of the new features. Log in is faster, better of control of practically everything...

Drive GPT signatures error (Solved)

So in my haste to remove Windows from off my computer I think I have jacked up one of my extra hard drives. I'm having problems auto mounting the drive, and after a few nights of trying every thing I can think of, I backed up the drive and went to reformat it using Gparted. So this error came up and...

Re: mint deteriorating

Its not Mint dude, its your computer. I never ceases to amazes me how if something goes wrong on a Windows computer its the computers fault but if something goes wrong on a Linux machine it's Linux fault. Same with programs, doesn’t work, programs fault if it's Linux, must be Linux fault! I had a ol...

Re: Linux Mint review

I game, only a few games refuse to run on Linux, I don’t need 120FPS in big draw call areas I still get 60FPS. Never ever had a Nvidia driver issue, I have however had many driver installation problems on Windows. Biggest complainants I have with Mint is I would like a bit better dual monitor featur...

Re: General LInux gaming question(s)

I very rarely will buy a game that will not run natively on Linux, that said very few games that I have that refuse to work with Linux. For the most part I have had pretty good luck getting all my non native games to run and run well, most with very little effort. It would have to be a really big ga...
