That works if I'm trying to find mp3 files. It does not work if I want to find all audio files.

Can I search directories for specific general kinds of files with Nemo?
With Windows, I can search folders for kinds of files. For example, if I want to find all audio files, I can search for ". kind=music"
Is there a way to conduct such a search with Nemo?

Disable touchpad while typing doesn't work
Thankfully, we have Ctrl-Z because I would have otherwise lost a lot of writings (well, typings) because my thumb touches the touchpad from time-to-time. It happened just now while making this post, in fact. I've turned it on and off and it never works. Please help. mac@mac-Alienware-m15-Ryzen-Ed-R5...

Re: [SOLVED] Should I upgrade to the latest and greatest kernel as a matter of course?
Thanks. Here is the information: You have a 5000 series Ryzen and all the graphics drivers are showing as loaded. If you run into any performance issues, go ahead and upgrade to the 6.2 kernel. That will provide newer graphics drivers and better support for your CPU. However, if you are not having ...

Re: [SOLVED] Should I upgrade to the latest and greatest kernel as a matter of course?
I just did a fresh install of LM Cinnamon on my new Alienware If you have brand new hardware then you probably should be using a newer kernel because it is possible not all the drivers your computer needs are in the LTS kernel. So we can give proper advice, please open the System Reports app and cl...

Re: Should I upgrade to the latest and greatest kernel as a matter of course?
By "latest" if you mean the 6.2 kernel, that is an HWE kernel. That means it is a short term support kernel, meant for newer hardware that doesn't run well with "older" kernels. I would say if everything runs fine, just stick with 5.15 as it is an LTS kernel. Just keep up with t...

[SOLVED] Should I upgrade to the latest and greatest kernel as a matter of course?
I just did a fresh install of LM Cinnamon on my new Alienware and I looked at the kernels. I was surprised to see that I'm on 5.15.0-78. Maybe this only surprises me because I'm ignorant but I assumed that the latest Mint would have the newest kernel. I presume there's a reason it doesn't but it mak...

Updated to LM 21 and now AirVPN doesn't work
It tries to connect and just disconnects and retries over and over again. I usually have an idea of where to start troubleshooting but not in this case. I'm clueless. I uninstalled and reinstalled Eddie (eddie-ui_2.21.8_linux_x64_debian.deb) twice. Here's my system info: mac@mac-Alienware-m15-Ryzen-...

I have some low res photos that are of sentimental value and I'd like to enhance them. I'll consider any and all recommendations.

Re: My machine won't boot after I did the MOK key thing
Ideally, you want to keep nvme and ssd's below 75% full for best performance. When you start getting close to 90%, Linux Mint will start giving warnings about the system being full. At ~93% you will not be able to log in. Thank you for your help. Actually, being unable to log in because of a full h...

Re: My machine won't boot after I did the MOK key thing
If you can see the LM logo, then the boot process has started so it is not correct to say your system won't boot. This sounds like a graphics driver issue. That is usually what causes the boot process to stop before the login screen is reached. Thank you for the correction. No, that is not an older...

[SOLVED] My machine won't boot after I did the MOK key thing
On the advice of some helpful person (I'm not being sarcastic), I followed the instructions for How to install the Nvidia driver with Secure Boot enabled; for drivers installed using Driver Manager, apt or Synaptic in this post . It worked, but most of the time it wouldn't boot. I would just be look...

Re: My external (2nd) monitor is not being recognized. No HDMI connectivity
Ok, that was not set to On-Demand mode. I've changed it now. A reboot will be needed for it to fully take effect, but I do not know if your computer will prompt you to create MOK or you have to do it manually. I know for a fact Secure Boot is disabled. I almost changed it but someone told me that W...

Re: My external (2nd) monitor is not being recognized. No HDMI connectivity
I know for a fact Secure Boot is disabled. I almost changed it but someone told me that Windows 11 needs it and this is a dual-boot machine. Is there a work-around? I don't know what MOK is. Windows 11 needs it to be enabled (which is what I think you meant to say in your first sentence). Yes, I me...

You can verify you installed the proper Nvidia drivers by running dpkg -l | grep -i nvidia Here is the result of that command: ~$ dpkg -l | grep -i nvidia ii libnvidia-cfg1-510:amd64 510.47.03-0ubuntu0.20.04.1 amd64 NVIDIA binary OpenGL/GLX configuration library ii libnvidia-common-510 510.47.03-0u...

[SOLVED] Display brightness is not working
I don't know where to start. I've read a few forum posts in which it had something to do with UEFI, Secure Boot, Nvidia, the kernel, etc. I found a YouTube video that purports to have a solution but I read in the comments section that no one was having success with his method. Here is the result of ...
