Re: Cinnamon freezing when deleting files

I think I've figured it out... And I'm glad I posted in newbie questions lol. When I was deleting files it was always from within a search within Nemo, I didn't even think about that being a factor, but when I just manually select and delete files (even dragging to select) my system freezes. With mo...

Re: Cinnamon freezing when deleting files

Wow! Thanks for all the replies everyone! Are you deleting from the local drive or a network share? I'm actually working with files on a local solid state drive, same partition mint is installed on if that matters. Try using the terminal - it's much faster, far less overhead. Or perhaps a better fil...

Re: Cinnamon freezing when deleting files

I did mention that I'm using cinnamon. I'm on 19.1 fully updated. I'm not at my laptop now to run that command, but I believe that's what you need.

Cinnamon freezing when deleting files

Recently I've been working with a large number of small files (think thousands of mp3's) and while sorting them there's been a few times where I've deleted batches of duplicates. Each time I do so cinnamon freezes up until I ctrl+alt+backspace, or sometimes I even have to hard reboot after letting i...

Network File Share

I'm trying to setup a samba share from one machine running 17.2 cinnamon and I can't seem to set it up right because I cannot seem to access it from either of my other machines. My other two machines run 17.2 one uses xfce the other is using mate. Please can someone point me in the right direction f...

Re: Deluge web UI through VPN

I've got the PC running Deluge on a VPN with Private Internet Access. I want to access the Web UI from multiple devices that are not on a VPN.

Re: Deluge web UI through VPN

Yes I can access the web UI through the local network and I do have port forwarding setup correctly. Everything worked fine before setting up Private Internet Access. Now that PIA is setup I can still access via the local network, but I would like to be able to access remotely. Currently, my work ar...

Deluge web UI through VPN

I've got a PC running Mint 17.1 Cinnamon. On this PC I've got Private Internet Access VPN running and Deluge. Assuming I know the IP Address at any given time (i've got a ddns service set up with an IP address auto-updater) and assuming I know the port I've got the Web UI running on. How do I access...

Re: Logitec Mouse battery monitor

As I said earlier I use Solaar on Cinnamon, Mate, and XFCE and it works great under all of them. You say it works under KDE as well so that covers all 4 official releases! I say USE SOLAAR. Seriously though, works perfectly, receive a notification when something connects, shows battery level, and al...

Re: Logitec Mouse battery monitor

Try Solaar. link here: http://pwr.github.io/Solaar/ I use it on 2 pc's one with Cinnamon and one with XFCE. I've also used it with Mate. Works great for me. Please let me know what you think and mark this as solved if this works for you so others can find the answer.

Re: Mint LXDE

I'm very sorry for going off topic. As I stated though, I would love to help out anyone who is working on a Mint release with LXDE (or LXQT). Anything I can do to help. Testing, Suggestions, Anything!

Re: Distros with a LXDE edition?

Tried installing Mint XFCE and installing LXDE on top. Ended up with a mess. Duplicate programs and the default LXDE install looks terrible! Uninstalled immediately. I will run a standard install of Mint XFCE for the time being. Hopefully we'll see an LXDE (or LXQT) release sometime in the future.

Re: Distros with a LXDE edition?

I'm very sorry Xenopeek... I love Mint and I love the community here but I have to find something that works better on this netbook. I want to stay with Mint because of the great community and awesome support but Frankly I just can't do XFCE. It may be solid and stable but frankly it's very antiquat...

Re: Distros with a LXDE edition?

@martymint What's the best unofficial LXDE mint you've found? I don't know if you'd call this the best , but you can try one of these: http://sourceforge.net/projects/ulmlxde/files/ That's actually the same one I downloaded and was using. If you feel you don't have the skill needed to do what you w...

Like I said this looks like it would be great fun and very rewarding but unfortunately I don't think I'm the guy for the job... If anyone else is willing to do something about this I would be more than willing to test and provide suggestions and help in any way I can but I don't think I'm the right ...

Re: Mint LXDE

this honestly sounds like something that would be awesome and very rewarding but I don't think I have the experience or know-how to do this. Like I said I'm still fairly new to the world of Linux. I've used Ubuntu off and on since 8.10 and recently decided to check out mint for some older hardware I...

Re: Mint LXDE

I know I can install it if I want but as stated in the original post I'd love to have an official release with lxde. As far as maintaining a community edition myself I'm still too new to Linux to think about doing something like that. I've only switched permanently to Linux in 2015 and still use win...
