Re: [SOLVED?] LMDE 2 and NitroShare

Hi !
You can also download a "not too old" DEB package here : https://launchpad.net/nitroshare/+download
It will do the job...

Re: What games are you playing / are you looking forward to?

I've kicked ArmA 2 to the curb and am now playing ArmA 3 full-time. Does anyone know how to get ArmA 3 to run on Linux? If so, I can kick Windows to the curb as the ONLY reason I'm running Windows is for that game. Maybe here ? https://forums.bistudio.com/topic/184461-arma-3-on-game-on-linux/?hl=li...

Re: How often does LMDE2 crash?

My LMDE 2 never crashed or freezed. On the opposite, my Mint Qiana has frequent problems, maybe I'm installing/de-installing too much softwares (mostly games) on it ? Moreover LMDE is more responsive than the standard edition. 8) Of course LMDE isn't perfect ! For example, it's a lot easier to insta...

Re: What games are you playing / are you looking forward to?

Damned ! I was happy to install Rigs of Rods latest version (sept. 2015). Very easy in theory : go to Github, apply the scripts for Ubuntu/Mint/Debian and that's all ! Unfortunately, there is a compilation error some other people experienced themselves. But without solution... I also tried all the p...

Re: What made you switch to Linux Mint?

Hi ! I tried Linux when I read an announcement about Fedora. A job friend was Suze administrator and convinced me to also test Suze, FreeBSD and Ubuntu. Finally Mint was the best for me : polished, ready to go, and at this time very fast ! Why fast a this time ? Because Flubox was ideally available ...

LMDE 2 on a laptop with NVIDIA Optimus

Hi there ! I really suffered a headache while installing LMDE 2 on my laptop  . Why ? Mainly the graphic card's fault... This is a NVIDIA Optimus, so Linux is basically using the "nouveau" driver. Except this driver is a terrible pain in the ass : unstable, buggy and unuseful  ! My con...

Re: Recommendations for a gaming PC, please.

Don't forget a good cooling, and maybe more than 4 GB RAM. Concerning the processor, a i5 with turbo boost over 3 GHz should be sufficient... Re: Updating existing LMDE 1 Systems to LMDE 2

Felix2cat, why would you use a distro/OS that is not supported? At first I wanted to learn a distro for professional use, particularly as a server. So I compared CentOS, Debian, Suze, BSD... As you know, Debian is running almost 1/3 of front servers on the web ( source ) Obviously, LMDE seemed a go...

Yeah, shame on me !
Do you think installing from scratch is not the good idea ? Just because you can't import anything and you have to reinstall all applications "manually" ?

Re: Updating existing LMDE 1 Systems to LMDE 2

As the official upgrade is not yet unveiled, I tried a common way to upgrade : Install a new LMDE 2 In LMDE 1, use the Mint backup tool to export your packages Back in LMDE 2, use the same tool to restore : here I'm beginning this story 8) Just after I imported the backup file, the restoration menu ...

Re: (SOLVED) LMDE2 mate - problem installing nvidia drivers

Yes, I 've to be more specific...
I found the name "nvidia-installer" on the Nvidia's site.
So I was wondering if it's a good idea to use these instructions rather than Debian's one :?:

Re: What games are you playing / are you looking forward to?

I'm trying to play directly, without PlayOnLinux, Wine or emulators.
Here are some of my usual games :
  • Xonotic / Nexuiz (I prefer the later)
    Torcs (sometimes...)
Morrowind (but I don't really like it)
    Enemy Territory
Or on Steam :
  • Dota 2
    The Talos principle
    Forward to the sky

Yes, that's the point. 8)
What do you think of the proprietary driver (nvidia-installer) ? Is it damageable for LMDE stability ?

Is there anything new in LMDE 2 for Optimus graphic cards ?
I mean like Ubuntu-Mint : without Bumblebee ?
