I have a 1yr old copy of 17.3 with everything the way I like it and all my software, email etc all GTG and on a fast ssd drive. I am off grid and do not have a fast or plentiful data source to the web. I loaded mint 18 to a spare hd I had sitting around but its barebones 18 with nothing else. Is the...

Linux "Office" software scrambling letters

I am trying to create a Resume and Libre Office is messing up all the letter spacing. Some letters are double spaced and some are smushed together. I tried saving as doc, docx and pdf and all of them are messed up.

Is there a better writer package for creating a clean resume?

Re: Found, NSA backdoor into Linux Kernel

I know the NSA helped create android; it's in the documentation for the android sdk. Android runs on a linux kernel. I don't know anything beyond that. Wouldn't surprise me, but I hope it's false, and if it is true, then I hope Linus Torvalds does something about it. I don't know if Linus still man...

Read an article that said the NSA OWNS Linux

Basically the article said apple, ms and linux are all wide open to the nsa. The article said the only os they trues is Qubes.....

Opinions?

Is Mint backdoored or wide open to nsa snooping and attacks. The article said to be slightly secure you need to run snort and know how to use it.

Mint + SSD + Old laptop, like new again

So happy with Mint and an SSD in my very old core-2 laptop with 2 gigs mem. It runs great as long as I do not try to do too much. I cannot run 2 VM's at a time but one is fine. Recently I had to load win10 on one of my VM's and man is it horrible. I had to turn off no less then 30 items to keep just...

Re: timelapse question

You can do this with a LOT of effort and willingness to learn, but i don't believe there is a GUI method for linux. Sorry to burst your bubble! Most folks do not want to write code via command line to do simple tasks like webcam timelapse. I am one of them. Thats why I asked for GUI. I will be usin...
