Re: Shut down problem

Two points which may help. 1st point: I think you made a slight mistake editing the grub file hanson53. I think the acpi=force needs to be inside quotes, like this: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash acpi=force" 2nd point: Could this be related to TLP? I did not have a shutdown problem, yester...

GPS watches - is there a 'best' option for linux

I am considering treating myself to a nice gps watch to use while hiking and running. The obvious options would be a Garmin Fenix or Suunto type of device. Does anyone have any experience of using these type of devices with Linux, transferring recorded tracks across etc? I'd much prefer to transfer ...

Re: How to set up Firefox not patch by linux mint

If you just want to reset the default search engine, it is easy to do this manually: https://easylinuxtipsproject.blogspot.com/p/firefox-search.html I know you said that you wanted it to come from resetting your profile and not have to set it up manually, but if it is *just* the search engine issue,...

Set Bluetooth received folder

Does anyone know how to set the folder that files received over bluetooth are put in?

By default, they seem to be put in a hidden folder in my /home folder.

Thanks!

Re: dmesg microcode error

Thanks for the responses guys. Damian: Yes those three packages are installed. smurphos: Thanks for the link to determine the latest microcode. At least I know that the correct microcode is being loaded, so there is theoretically nothing to worry about, providing nothing starts crashing when I use t...

Re: How to Update Bios in Dell Computers with Linux

I know this rely is somewhat late, but just in case it helps anyone, I thought I would say that I updated the BIOS on a Dell Inspiron using option 2 on the Dell website link from the original post.

It all worked flawlessly as advertised by Dell.

Re: Time to talk about WhatsApp

Thanks for everyone's thoughts and opinions. I definitely don't want my life played out on the internet, I don't have FB (and never will). Thanks for the link xenopeek (which I should have maybe found for myself <blush>). I'm coming to the opinion that this is maybe just one of those times in life w...

Time to talk about WhatsApp

I apologise in advance if this has been done already and I'll say here I don't want to start a big argument. I am just wondering what people's opinions are. So, my sports club uses WhatsApp to organise activities such training, events, meet-ups etc etc... and you know, I *do* want to be involved, at...

Heh, your story makes me smile lsemmens, 2 years ago a buddy of mine cycled from Perth to Sydney going across the "big deserty bit". From his stories it does indeed sound like it is a good journey if you like to get away from the crowds and be thirsty. Pretty amazing trip, more amazing in that he go...

I have noticed the same problem with a Mintbox Mini 2 I got recently. Will monitor the situation more closely and report back.

Thank you for posting the reported solution from Compulab Soulrescuer.

Re: Which timezone is used on this forum? And how many are american or european?

I really like that this forum is so International, it is great to be able to read the news that people post from other countries. For instance I am now following the news about the Australian data encryption laws thanks to Pierre. I am currently residing in the UK. :) From a purely pedantry perspect...

Linux (and Mint) contribute to my anger levels

<vent>
I mean when I know there is such a solid OS as GNU/Linux (Mint) out there, it *really* irritates me when I am forced to fight against windows each day in work to get things done.

Sigh.
