Re: Viewing and manipulating Samsung Galaxy A34 Internal Storage via USB / MTP
Go figure. I bought a D-Link DW132 Wireless N USB Adaptor a few years ago for some purpose or another. So I'm looking around for how to install drivers. I end up plugging it in and doing a 'lsusb' to just see if the system recognizes it. Sure enough it's there. Then decide to check the network conne...

Re: Brothers DCP-1510 Printer/Scanner - How to get scanner to work
FYI, I have a temporary work-a-round in that I've installed the Brothers Printer/Scanner utilities on an instance of Win10 running in VirtualBox. It works like a champ , but...... I'm still interested in learning how to set up the drivers and utilities to get the DCP-1510 to scan in Linux 20.1. Anot...

Every update that's being offered to you, is needed. Also: Updates have never anything to do with "Installation & Boot". Let me see if I have this right. "GRUB is a complete program for loading and managing the boot process . It is the most common bootloader for Linux distributio...

Solved: grub2-signed and grub2-unsigned and grub2 in Update Manager
What is the difference between grub2-signed and grub2-unsigned and just grub2 and why do all three show up in my Update Manager at the same time? That confuses me.
I dropped them in my blacklist until I can figure out which one(s) is/are needed.

Installing Mint 20.x on a new SSD
I can find instructions on how to do this anymore. Rack it up to age as I'm 70 and my memory isn't the best. The system is UEFI. So I'll need to create a UEFI partition, a 'root' (/) partition, and a separate 'home' (/home) partition. I used to have the instructions to do this but I can't find them....

What needs to be edited when changing the location of the /home partition
I'm replacing a hard drive on my laptop and will reconfigure the layout of the hard drive. The original had a primary and logical partitions on an old BIOS/MBR configuration. Re: Partitioning New SSD Drive (create a boot partition?)
gparted is the tool for this. New bare drive = blank. First thing you need to do is create a partition table on it. As you were talking EFI implying UEFI boot, then choose a GPT partition table. gparted menu, device > create partition table. But worth checking in BIOS to confirm that you are bootin...
