Re: Question with live usb Install And upgade with VM on USB

How to use the abandonware Remastersys to make a new .iso of your modified LinuxMint, so that you can install your modified Mint instead of the default mint to UFD: Step 1) Install remastersys & Load remastersys from the Adminstration menu. Step 2) type this into the terminal: gksu nemo if nothing h...

Re: Question with live usb Install And upgade with VM on USB

You should make a full install to a USB hard drive or internal drive, add wine, full OS update, and any other programs, setting changes and custom panel-buttons. Also removing junk & programs you do not need to be of smallest size possible. Then remaster the whole system as a new .iso * ( See Star N...

Re: software manager has very poor search engine

Heres another thing software manager and package descriptions lack they never tell you where they are going to create shortcuts. They never give you the option of selecting shortcuts. You just have to install the package and hope for the best. I have a top panel button for "Run Application" and reso...

Re: Lubuntu Minimal Install Question

Look how strange that site is, they list the packages that come with "desktop" and "core" but do not specify if desktop means full or minimal install

I find that nearly all technical and computer sites communicate so poorly!

Re: USB will not work

I think using usb-creator-gtk is much better than UNetBootin Hold on, BRB and ill tell you the list of files that should be on a USB and also how to make a good one Do you intend to use the USB as a portable system, or an installer only? If you want to use it as an actual system because you have a f...

Re: How To: Persistent Live LMDE USB Install

@tone303, Yes, that's all it takes for main Mint. That's the USB configuration I use now. Note again, this will not work for LMDE. Thats great. and so it will just grow on-demand until the casper-rw partition is filled? thats better for flash memory than a virtual disk with the free space inside of...

Re: How To: Persistent Live LMDE USB Install

Yes, you can configure a larger persistence partition if you want. This tutorial is only for the LMDE version of Linux Mint, though. It WILL NOT WORK for main Mint. That said, I run Mint 16 Cinnamon on a 32 GB Corsair Voyager USB stick, with half of that reserved for persistence. It's actually simp...

Re: How To: Persistent Live LMDE USB Install

Why is step 8 needed? Shouldn’t everything be done after step 7 in terms of making a new persistence that is not limited to 4 GB? Step 8 will cause a lot of problems. Why users and passwords? is that relevant to getting the new larger persistence partition working, or did you just add that so people...

Re: How To: Persistent Live LMDE USB Install

I found out that as of May 2015 and Mint 17.1, the Abandonware Remastersys still works to save your system to iso so you can USB that instead of the default system. You need to run one .deb from the first directory and one .deb from the 3rd directory and then it appears in "administration" You need ...
