Re: LMDE3 - Install Complete MATE Desktop

Hello Fred, I just read your post https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=241&t=227270#p1199722 . I assume, the problems with deb-multimedia which you mentioned are still the same in LMDE3. I am also looking forward to your updated tutorial how to remove it. Furthermore it seems a good idea to ...

Re: Corrupted graphics with Intel i915 driver in LMDE 2

@giepen.m: unfortunately I have no other idea except for software rendering. Did you try that? Select Cinnamon (Software Rendering) at login screen. The downside is, everything becomes slower, depending on your processor. So it may not be very satisfying. Other than that you may wait, until the Debi...

Re: Corrupted graphics with Intel i915 driver in LMDE 2

@giepen.m: I saw, earlier in this thread you created a file in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/, as proposed in the Arch wiki. Then atarax mentioned, in LMDE 2 the X-configuration is in another directory; you must put that file in /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/. Did you remember that, when you tried switching to ...

Re: Corrupted graphics with Intel i915 driver in LMDE 2

@atarax: I noticed, you posted the solution on launchpad. Thanks. Would you please add that the command with pluma is for Mate users, and in Cinnamon you must type gedit instead of pluma?

Re: Corrupted graphics with Intel i915 driver in LMDE 2

@exploder: My pleasure.
@atarax: Glad, it works. I guess, you use Mate. In Mate the default text editor is Pluma, yes. In Cinnamon, as I wrote, the default editor is Gedit.
The safe way for LMDE 2 Cinnamon is to create a file:
gksudo gedit /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-intel.conf

Re: Corrupted graphics with Intel i915 driver in LMDE 2

@exploder: as your computer is doing ok with Nvidia now, you would of course not go back making an experiment with uncertain perspective. Just out of curiosity: did you before also try enabling sna, as I proposed?

Hm that is a pity. What about exploder? His bug seems like mine.

Re: Corrupted graphics with Intel i915 driver in LMDE 2

I can confirm exploder's Intel i915 graphics bug (after 1 or 2 hours suddenly transparent menus). Same bug was reported in Fedora 19. The workaround, which did the job for me in Fedora 19 and also does now in LMDE 2, is to enable (not disable) sna acceleration. See this Fedora bug report https://bug...
