Boot Capacities on a new build Solved

I have said this before in previous posts, I know hardware...software not so much. My biggest weakness is Networking, well that and the fact I am about three levels of tech behind the times in some instances. I am being forced to admit the death of my current system "The Mystery Machine". She was a ...

Re: Acer Aspire NAV50

Is your Intel Atom processor affected.? To the best that I can tell everything else runs smoothly, up and down speeds hold, processes run at a reasonable speed. If I can find a driver or workaround for the display then all is good. Otherwise I may have to dust of the Win7 disk. Geez haven't dragged...

Acer Aspire NAV50

I am in the habit of rebuilding and restoring older computers fr those who are not interested in latest/greatest gaming types, these are people who want stable workhorse types. As a rule everything I rebuild leaves my workshop with the latest flavour of Mint. This week's rebuild is an Acer Aspire On...

Re: Scribus, Libre Office, & Color Management

This from the Scribus Forums user Utnik did the trick! unfortunately i couldn't work out a way to use a grayscale profile with scribus so far – the following workaround did the trick: first, you should upgrade to scribus 1.4.6 (or at least 1.4.4, the first version with support for .pdf/x-1a…) apply ...

Scribus Grey Scale Color Management (Solved)

I have been working a side job for several years now as an editor and pre-press agent for a small publisher. Before I was in winblowz but finally was able to find a system of linux that apps I could use for this purpose and converted everything over. YAY MINT! I am running: Scribus 1.4.3 LibreOffice...

Sharing Files with other Users

So I have been on Linux a bit now and mostly gotten the swing of things. I made user profiles for my older kids so they can check their email and what not. My problem now is how to make files available to other users. I don't want my kids to have full admin access so they can't get on my profile, bu...

Installing Brother HL2280DW All-In-One

So as stated in the subject I am attempting to make my Brother HL2280DW function on the Linux computer. The device is a multi function print/scan/copy that is wireless and available to my whole network. My husband's Windows 7 and my Motorola Droid Mini both connect and print fine, as well as my neph...

Finally Finished Conversion

I have played with Linux off and on since the first days of Red Hat. Usually though I was sharing computers with others in my household and they didn't like having to ask me to help with every single function so those play times were short lived. I have always been decent with software but by far be...

Re: Pictures in Desktop Background

Perhaps a misunderstanding? In Linux Mint 17 and before you could add a picture with the + icon. This has been changed in 17.1. Now you add a folder (or several of them), then you choose the picture inside the settings dialogue. THAT WAS IT, once i added the folder the pictures showed up in the win...

Solved! Avid One Note User Looking for Alternative

I am making the transition from Windows to Linux with relatively few hiccups. I still have some self education to set to task for theme editing but that’s minor. My biggest hiccup is Microsoft Office One Note  Okay I see alternatives for everything EXCEPT  One Note and I LOVE :D this...
