How to update Libre

I am running Mint 18.2 32bit.
I have Libre office 5.1.6.2 and want to update to 5.3.4.
I found the tarball on the Libre site but I don't know how to use it for an update.

This installed it. It now shows on the menu and works. Thanks.
It is Abiword 3.0.1. I notice on the website that there is a newer version 3.0.2. Is it possible to update to it now?

I have the Xfce desktop.
Abiword does not show in the applications folder.

Installed Abiword but it doesn't show in menu--Solved

I installed Abiword using the Software Manager in Mint 18.2. In Software Manager and Synaptic Package Manager, it shows that it is installed. However, it does not show up in my menu of programs so I don't know how to access it. Please help.

I updated the kernel on Mint 18.1 32bit Xfce two days ago and the laptop is working fine with no problems. My laptop is a Dell Latitude D600 32 bit.

By eye candy I only mean Compiz, Openbox, etc. and any unnecessary Window Manager and other appearance settings, along with checking the list of background processes that can be turned off.
