XMPP Client with full-screen video calls

Hi all,

I've recently started using XMPP via Pidgin, but the video call support seems very lacking. Does there exist a feature-rich client with good video call support including full screen calls?

Re: PDFs with highlighted annotations

Thanks, but I am running Cinnamon. I heard there can be issues with installing KDE applications on other DEs due to dependencies?

Re: "Task Manager" like linux alternative.

It's called "System Monitor", which should be accessible from the Mint menu. It can be launched from a terminal by

Code: Select all

gnome-system-monitor

PDFs with highlighted annotations

Hi all,

I often need to look at PDFs which have been annotated under Windows. Is there an open source PDF reader available which has good support for this? The standard document viewer (evince?) doesn't seem to do this very well.

Drag-and-drop copy between 2 sshfs locations on one network

Hi all, If I have 2 different locations on one network mounted with sshfs in 2 different folders on my computer (on a different network) and I drag-and-drop a folder from one location to the other, what route does the data take? Does it come over the internet to my computer and then get sent back, o...

At 19:47 CET (7:47 pm, CET time, or 5:47 pm GMT or 19:47 GMT) Skype is working on my iPhone, ano neither on the linux box nor on the Mac. It was working on my Android also (for instant messaging at least). Supposed to be fixed they say... It seems it's not really the case. I'm located in Cannes, Fr...

Skype won't connect

Hi all,

As of turning on my computer this morning, Skype is refusing to connect after I attempt to sign in. It just says "Signing in..." for a while and then "Skype can't connect". Any ideas?

What could have created this besides cinnamon-settings? This was a fresh install of Mint, and I only ever opened settings from the menu.

Re: Startup Applications not working

No, whatever is in your home belongs to you and only you (your account) has to be the owner of all objects. Such a problem comes in most cases, if you use sudo command for launching a graphical program. Never do this. If elevated rights should really be necessary use gksudo in conjunction with grap...

Re: Startup Applications not working

I solved this by running

Code: Select all

sudo chown $USER ~/.config/autostart
The problem was, root owned the ~/.config/ directory and the GUI is not run as root, so python's "shutil.copyfile" function couldn't copy the .desktop file into it.

Does root normally own this directory?

Managed to determine that I could open the GUI in terminal with cinnamon-settings startup When I come to add the application in "Choose application", I get the following Python traceback. Programs occasionally complaining about proxy settings

Hi all, I am using a freshly installed (yesterday) Mint 17.2 Cinnamon, and I am very occasionally getting a problem where programs are unable to connect to the internet. Yesterday it was the Dropbox daemon installer (the problem suddenly went away after several tries) and today it is the lastfm clie...

Startup Applications not working

Hi all, I am trying to set up some programs to start automatically when I log in (17.2 Cinnamon, freshly installed yesterday), so I went to "Startup Applications" via the menu. I clicked "Add", "Choose Application" and selected a program (Thunderbird in this case), and "Add Application", but nothing...

Re: Games won't launch on Steam

Hello, I have this problem as well and can't wrap my head around it. I did everything according to these instructions, yet when I want to rename a library and create a link, I find that there is no such directory as /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/primus. „/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/primus/libGL.so.1”: No...

Re: [SOLVED] Games won't launch on Steam

I know this issue was supposedly solved, but I encountered many problems after doing what's stated above. Although I could play several games thanks to the solution provided, XCOM stopped working, DreadOUT didn't load, etc. I suppose that happens because some games are 64 bits and I am trying to ru...
