Re: Linux Mint Mate 19.1 64-bit install - unable to restart

Hi everyone! I apologize, I thought this was supposed to send me updates when people posted/replied. I honestly thought no one was writing on this thread. But, good news is...drum roll please...I found out about the PowerNowControl from somewhere, and tried it and it worked! I came back here to say ...

Re: Linux Mint Mate 19.1 64-bit install - unable to restart

This last time I started up the computer, my wi-fi disappeared' I was watching a video when I realized that I typed Cinnamon on here. I have it changed in my post now. Sorry about that, both tired and frustrated. At least my wi-fi is back up and running! :D Yeah, I am not worried about the ba...

[SOLVED] Linux Mint Mate 19.1 64-bit install - unable to restart/shutdown

Hi, A little bit of history: On this Dell Vostro 1000, I had Linux Mint 18.x 64-bit Xfce installed and running. Almost a year ago, I tried to start up the laptop and I had a blank (no errors back then, either) screen as if trying to load without logo yet. I finally decided it somehow crashed and jus...

Re: Compiz burn effect while closing Window

I have the same question as sensenku and would also like an answer to the problem. I do not have the option of activating the Animation Add-ons, as mentioned in other threads, because it does not exist. :(

Re: Chromium vs Google Chrome

Hi all, Thanks for your replies. I am happy to hear I chose the right direction! I am always trying to find ways to get free of the main stream garbage. :D I guess my concern is that when I was clicking on the links, such as help (home page), it said "welcome to google chrome", although I know I hav...

Chromium vs Google Chrome

Just curious...

Why does everyone say Chromium is not Google Chrome (which I want NO part of Google) and yet, when I finally installed Chromium today, it directs me towards everything Google Chrome-related?

Power Adapter overheating since Linux Mint 17.1 Install

Hi, I have a Dell Vostro 1000 and it was running fine with Windows XP Pro. I just wiped the drive and installed Linux Mint 17.1 about 2 weeks ago and now the power adapter gets hot and the computer itself can seem sluggish/laggy at times. I have checked my fans and put the laptop on a cooling fan no...
