Re: disable auto login

You have NOT to select Users and Groups, BUT you have to select LOGIN (type login at the Start menu) ... here you will see the under the Users tab, the options to set a password, manual login etc ;-)

Re: Linux Mint 19 codenamed “Tara”

Hi, Will there be a smooth upgrade path later from 18.3 to 19 OR is a fresh install required ? I know with all previous versions, there was only an upgrade path for minor versions, ie 18.2 > 18.3. Upgrading from one major version to another (18 > 19), requires a fresh install. I assume it will be t...

Re: Top Panel wont stay put

You didn't provide a lot of information, such as what Linux Mint version with which desktop environment (Cinnamon, Mate, KDE or XFCE) ?
If it is XFCE Edition, you have to lock the panel ... You can do this by Right click in panel, Choose Panel Preferences and tick the item lock panel

Re: Night Light

a ppa is not really necessary,
just install Redshift together with redshift-gtk and it works fine
For me, I'm using Linux Mint 18.2, but XFCE edition, it's working with no problems ;-)

Re: Night Light

If you mean that it is a kind of app that dims the blue light .. and is as such better for your eyes,
then you should install Redshift ... available through the Software Manager...
It automatically dims the blue intensity depending on the time of your location ;-)

I believe the Linux Foundation offers free training materials True. They have a free online course, which I have been told is pretty good. The Dummies series is also good to learn linux from the beginning... very well explained and easy Linux_All-in-one_for-dummies_5th-Edition_2014.pdf Not too much...

Re: Protection Software

You can use an application like 'rkhunter' to check for worms/rootkit virusses ...
But even when you will check it, you will notice that your system is completely safe ...
NO need of antivirus or whatever, just enable the firewall (ufw / gufw) and everything is ok !

Re: files deleted in File Manager don't go to Trash Can

I mentioned in one of my earlier comments that I noticed Thunar's context menu includes a 'move to trash' option. However, when I tried it, it doesn't work. I get the permanent deletion warning, and file is deleted, not moved to trash! Can someone else with Xfce+Thunar confirm this behavior? Looks ...

Re: Strange "feature" on Xfce desktop

I can't reproduce that. Not sure what could be causing it. You're using the Open With "Create Launcher on the pane" option when right-clicking the launcher icon on the desktop? Does it behave differently when you instead right-click it in your menu and do "Add to Panel" from there? I suspect someth...
