Re: Printer Help HP mfp m477fdw

The printer is on WiFi and not close enough to where I could run a USB to it. Being on WiFi the best :D. Keep it there! Download and install sane-airscan: https://github.com/alexpevzner/sane-airscan The Printers and Scanners forum has lots of success stories from users who did precisely that. Your ...

Re: Printer Help HP mfp m477fdw

Many users are reporting problems with scanning on LM20. see https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=51&t=329760&p=1881829&hilit=lm20+scanner#p1881829 ... Unfortunately, the printer is big and heavy and nowhere near an Ethernet plug... WiFi was part of the reason I choose this prin...

Re: Printer Help HP mfp m477fdw

I am so close to giving up and going back to Linux Mint 19. HPLIP in LM20 supports your device. Why mess with HPLIP 3.20.6? HPLIP is not needed on LM20 for printing or scanning. Use driverless printing and sane-airscan. In the time you have struggled with python and HPLIP 3.20.6 you could have set ...

Re: Printer Help HP mfp m477fdw

EDIT / POST MAY BE DELETED Could not get this working and really needed to scan/print so I downgraded to 19.3. :( Seems to me that hplip is just not compatible with LM20. LM19.3 is working with a simple apt install hplip, prompted to download needed plugin and everything worked. I found this link wh...

Printer Help HP mfp m477fdw

Hello everyone I'm hoping to get some help getting my printer/scanner working correctly. It worked on previous versions of LM but it's not working on LM20. Doing sudo apt install hplip-gui ---> Then HPLip won't open/start Tried to manually download the latest file but it seems to not work as it won'...

Re: Sound Issues - HALP!

First, I don't think the issue has anything to do with your monitor. I'm suspecting something wrong with alsa/pulseaudio. Your aplay output shows no Card 0 which is unusual. For now, let's see what happens if you set the Built-in Audio Profile to Off on the Configuration tab of pavucontrol. Note: I...

Re: Sound Issues - HALP!

Hi bluesky509. Some things that might help you when the issue arises: 1. Try running pulseaudio -k in the terminal. That will restart the sound daemon, and you may need to also restart the sound playing apps. 2. Install PulseAudio Volume Control (pavucontrol.) When the issue pops up, especially whe...

Sound Issues - HALP!

This has been an ongoing issue for me. This normally happens after waking up from sleep or randomly and restarts. A restart (sometimes 2) almost always fixes the issue. Basically, I got no sound. After a few minutes It tries to work and it gets really "choppy" or "stutters". And ...

Update Repo Error: kozec OBS

Getting a synaptic error... Anyone else getting this error? And is there anything to do for this or do I just wait? The repository is not updated and the previous index files will be used. Re: Second monitor resolution

Ok. So I found the real issue and a possible (temp workaround?) fix. I am using scaling (Hi-DPI) for my laptop. It's required otherwise everything is too small. This is also scaling up the external monitor. I found a link at askubuntu that lead me to this: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/HiDPI#...

Re: Second monitor resolution

First post updated with more information. On Win10 I used this ext monitor with Firefox/Chrome and the windows would automatically adjust(?) and look normal size. With LM19b Firefox windows looks zoomed in. I tested a video with Netflix and it plays fine and is watchable. Screenshot if it helps: htt...

Second monitor resolution

I recently installed Linux Mint Beta 19 and since my USB-C to HDMI finally works on my XPS13 Laptop I installed it and removed Windows 10. What I did not realize is that a 2nd monitor I often use is only showing low resolutions. Can someone help getting a higher resolution? Thanks Adapter Model : De...

Help Repair System

My Linux Mint 18.3 would not boot today for no apparent reason other than is may have lost power the night before. I attempted to use a Live CD to repair using boot-repair and now it just says no boot media. This is the date from boot-repair: http://paste.ubuntu.com/p/tjghGh7zgd/ I believe the home ...

Re: Help Brother MFC-495CW

Thanks everyone for the help... The scanner works now. I followed the steps here: https://sites.google.com/site/easylinuxtipsproject/15 I think the important steps missing was at the bottom... 10. Now you may have to solve a problem with the scanner. In 64-bit Linux Mint 18.x and Ubuntu 16.04.x the ...

Help Brother MFC-495CW

This is my second all-in-one printer that I only use for scanning. I had it working with Linux Mint a while ago but I do not remember what steps I took to get it to scan. It's connected with WiFi. I tried installing all the files from the Brother website (http://support.brother.com/g/b/downloadend.a...

Re: GTX 1060 & Linux Mint

It's working! Again. I kept the latest kernel (4.10.0-24) and convinced it was related to grub I found an online post suggesting adding "nomodeset" to grub. I'm not sure what this does but the system can now boot up properly. So for reference and for anyone else who might have issues... He...

Re: GTX 1060 & Linux Mint

It seems the open-source driver is the only one I can get Mint to startup correctly. However, this leads to "software rendering" mode with cinnamon. I've tried NVIDIA-375,378, and 381 with kernel 4.10.0-24 and non of them work. However, why does going through recovery and selecting normal ...
