No Answer means that I better install Windows? That works from the beginning!
Please don't let a ‘no answer' bring you to that conclusion. Many of use don't use LMDE 2, so we don't have experience in it and don't have an suggestion or an answer.

Re: Graphic issues on Dell Latitude

This may or may may apply (I haven't updated to 19, so I don't have experience yet):

I believe having kernel 4.15.0-24 has caused some problems for others, so you may want to change to a lower-numbered kernel in the 4.15 series.

Re: How to upgrade to Linux Mint 19

I'm not a fan. I tried setting it up to do 1 monthly backup & had it store it on my freshly formatted 1 terabyte HD. Started it & HD light never went off, even after 4 hours. Now it was backing up my 480 GB NVME which only had 80 gigs used, but when I looked at the backup storage drive it was down ...

Re: Facility to downgrade from Mint 19 to 18.3?

If you originally had a separate /home partition in 19, then yes, you can run the installation for 18.3 and assign the original 19 /home partition to 18.3. You must make sure that the checkbox to format the partition is NOT checked. That will install the 18.3 OS but just use the /home partition. As ...

You encrypted your data and it's work related so the data must be important. Lesson is---backup your important data regularly and immediately be...

@Pjotr and/or Pierre: TimeShift doesn't have a compression option? I can't check because I don't have Mint on hand.
Timeshift does no compression of its own, no. You can backup to a compressed BTRFS mount though.
Good to know, thanks.

Re: Create a separate partition for snapshots during Linux Mint installation ?

Dupo, that is a great idea! I probably will do the same when I install 19 (I run 18.3).

If you can spare ~10 GB out of the 64 GB, kudos!

Good idea, yes. Give it a minimum of 10 GB, that should be enough for the (big!) primary snapshot plus a few extra. Do the partitioning beforehand, with GParted, after booting from the Mint DVD.
Would Dupo really need a minimum of 10 GB for a 64 GB eMMC storage?

Catweazel, My heart sank when I read your post. I'm 54 years old and have a seizure disorder. It's affected my brain and I know for a fact that my mind is not what it was even just 10 years ago. Re: Why oh Why can't we make Linux better looking

I guess I am spoiled by Mac and Winders fonts and icons. I'm a longtime Windows user and find that if I didn't have to use it for a couple of things, including at my workplace, I wouldn't miss the icons and fonts. As for Mac, never had one but I must say of what I've seen, the interface is very goo...

I find Linux quite good looking. With Libre Office, there are other themes to use. The icons are great, and there are many other fonts to install.

Re: Mint 18.3 does not load some sites while Win did it

Hello, Thanks, but surely site.ir was an example! No, not that obvious. First, you had site.ir in quotation marks. By default, it would mean that site.ir is the name of the website. You've thought it's really my website? Many newbies on the forum don't know how to use the link tags, so we would ass...
