Hello Jerry,

It does indeed. No problem with the touch-screen. I have not tested the pen device.
The reason I asked is that my guess, and only a guess, is that the touchscreen is taking over and disables the touchpad.

Re: Cinnamon 18.3 and Epson XP-434 not connecting

Tip: try not to get to hung up in learning Terminal just yet. This was only necessary because you're trying to install an outside driver for the Epson. Most of us don't use Terminal that much. Once everything was working and in place, I hardly use Terminal. So, if lsb is installed, then continue wit...

Re: Cinnamon 18.3 and Epson XP-434 not connecting

If you already executed the command I posted sudo apt-get install lsb , then no, you won't need apt-get install lsb The sudo apt-get install lsb command is the same command as apt-get install lsb but has elevated privileges to perform the command. sudo is short for su per user do which gives you tem...

Re: How to connect to a specific access point?

So after totally turning off automatic connection, I got this screen from clicking on the tray icon for networks: Shutter-003.jpg From here, I would be able to see which AP has the strongest signal and click on it. These were my setups for AP1 and AP2. The BSSID MAC addresses are made up for securit...

Re: How to connect to a specific access point?

... Since the APs have a problem. I need to connect to each one to test it. ... I'm curious---why do you think that the APs have a problem? Your situation has been intrigued and I've been experimenting with this. I noticed that even though I had "Automatically connect to this network when it is ava...

Re: Cinnamon 18.3 and Epson XP-434 not connecting

Got it. I'll look better next time. OK...remember...TOTAL newbie here. From that page this: [Notice] In order to install these drivers, you need to install LSB package (version 3.2 or later) beforehand. Ubuntu: # apt-get install lsb Fedora: # yum install lsb OpenSUSE: # yast --install lsb I guess i...

On that page at the bottom, click on Accept button. Then the drivers will show with Download buttons.

Re: How to connect to a specific access point?

Reread your original post. So the main problem is that you keep getting connected to an AP that's not the nearest?

Unfortunately, I don't know enough about this and haven't had that experience.

Re: How to connect to a specific access point?

Thanks for the reply. Sorry for the TMI. I understand the steps that you mentioned, but I don't have ten BSSIDs memorized. I was hoping for a solution that did not involve repeatedly looking up the relationship between the BSSID and the English name for the AP. The method that I detailed solved tha...

Re: How to connect to a specific access point?

Welcome!

Details, yes, but TMI.

Connect to the network that you want as the default.

In Network Connections, click on that network, then click on Edit. At BSSID, choose the MAC address from the drop-down list.

That should make it choose the SSID with that MAC address.

One thing I've noticed. Once linux Teamviewer is installed, the new updates to it come through the Update Manager in Mint so someone is maintaining it.
That's because when TeamViewer is installed in Linux, a repository is added to "Additional repositories" in Software Sources.

Re: Using BackInTime for migrating Mint applications.

I don't think BackInTime is the best way for migrating.

I'd suggest using Aptik, which is perfect for such a task. You can select what you want to backup and migrate and has 3 levels of the user interface.

Re: Cinnamon 18.3 and Epson XP-434 not connecting

b_hayles, I recently had an Epson XP-640 and understand what you're going through. Follow pdc_2's advice about the driver. After that gets installed, you'll find your Epson XP-434 (or maybe XP-430 series). You can select that. Afterwards, you should be able to print. I had a hard time getting my XP-...
