Re: reset lost main user password on multiboot linux version 19.3 and windows 10

If you have a separate / and /home partition for Mint, you may want to check to see if your / partition is full. You can do that by using a live USB/DVD of Mint.

That same scenario happened to me and I found out that was the cause.

Re: Etcher issue re bootable USB new 64GB USB now 3.84MB

Try mkusb. It can repair a USB flash drive to it's original state and can create a bootable live USB.

You would need to add a PPA to be able to download it.

Code: Select all

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:mkusb/ppa

Code: Select all

sudo apt install mkusb
This is a snapshot of the main menu of mkusb:

Very nice.
In cinnamon you can't.
Bummer! I was hoping that finding the option would be similar for Nemo file manager.

Re: Change the info line in filemanager/ data modified

In Xfce, I have the option of changing the display in Thunar file manager to whatever you'd like. In Thunar, I clicked on the Edit menu, Preferences, and on the Display tab, for Date, I chose Custom for the Date format and used this format: Shutter_28.jpg . . The result is Day, Month, and Year: Shut...

Re: [Solved] Utility to create a LiveUSB with persistent memory in Mint

I recommend mkusb. It does a great job of creating persistence, but also a partition for shared data that can be accessed by the USB and your installed OS. It also has a utility to repair a USB flash drive that doesn't seem to want to be formatted or partitioned anymore. https://www.howtogeek.com/ho...

Re: Install Mint from flash drive

In BIOS, is there a section where you can tell it to boot from USB (or something like removable drive)? If so, then you may need to make it the first choice to boot from.

Did you download the GnuPG as stated in the instructions? It looks as if the command is not being recognized in Powershell.

Also as future reference, if your partition for Mint is formatted as EXT4, you have to use RSYNC. You can only use BTRFS on a system that has been formatted as BTRFS.

Re: XED (1.2.2) suddenly stopped working properly

I have dual boot here. I've got Windows 10 and Linux Mint 20. As an experiment, I tried saving a text file with the text you wrote: 座敷では此の三つ折りのカネ使われる and in Windows using Notepad, I'm able to open and save the text file with the above text intact. Then in Mint, I can open and save the same text file...

Re: XED (1.2.2) suddenly stopped working properly

What version of Linux Mint are you running? The reason I ask is that the latest version of Xed should be 2.6.2

Also, are you using Notepad in Windows or something else?
