Re: all gone back to default after restart/shutdown

It looks like you're running a live session of Mint from the USB, instead of an installed version.

Unfortunately, I'm not good with networks.

Hopefully, a member, JeremyB, will come along and help. He's excellent at network.

Re: Howto configure marco drop-shadows?

Ah! You're using 18.2 MATE; I'm using 18.2 Cinnamon. I don't have the same icons in 'Control Center' as you do. I have a 'Desktop' and I have a 'Windows' but no 'Desktop Settings'.

Re: Howto configure marco drop-shadows?

I want to disable drop-shadows for a specific application, I see 'Control Center', 'Desktop Settings' and under 'Windows', 'Window Manager' drop down I see 'Marco + Compositing'. If I select 'Marco + Compton' instead, then ALL window drop-shadows are removed. ... Wish I could help, but I'm using 18...

Re: Phantom Folder

I see. Well, this clears up a lot, actually. I may have broken it by removing anything samba-related from my system (either that or perhaps it's because their isn't a server on the network :?: ). Re: new hp cups out

To answer your question
how important is it to update from hp the new cups

I would ask myself: Is everything working fine as it is right now and is there a newer feature that I really need with the update? If you're happy with how it works now, then don't update.
