Any chance to take the computer to a friend, at best somebody who uses a different ISP?

Yes, it's a laptop and I can take it to work.

Thanks so much Cosmo. I'll let you know the results.

Hi Cosmo,

Using a Live USB, got the same results as the testaccount:

Desklets HTTP Error 400: Bad Request.
Applets update without an error.

Thank you.

Re: Desklets Refreshing the Cache error

Do you have the same problem with applets (which have a far greater number of items available)? Unfortunately, yes. Shutter-007.jpg Also: Create a fresh new test account and do inside nothing except loading the desklet info. How does this work? I created an account called "testaccount", t...

Re: Desklets Refreshing the Cache error

Can you reach the page in the browser? If the problem is only in the desklet dialogue, delete the folder .cinnamon/spices.cache/desklet. Note, that the first part of the path is a hidden folder; you have to press ctrl-h to make it visible. The desklet dialogue should be closed during the operation....

[http error 400] This has been happening for several days now. Any ideas? "How to Fix a 400 Bad Request Error" https://www.lifewire.com/how-to-fix-a-400-bad-request-error-2617988 I'd check any .config files for a bad URL. Thanks for your response. Unfortunately, the suggestions from that ...

Re: MacBook Pro getting seriously hot

You guys may be a victim of hardware issues. I work on laptops for people and a lot of time the heat-sink compound on the Microprocessor and Chipset dries out and then you have a heat problem. Many users also don't blow out their air path with a can of 'AIR' and the fan and heat-sink area gets plug...

Use a Live Mint DVD or USB. You should be able to read your hard disk data and copy it to another.

Re: Resizing images is a pain on Linux Mint (rant)

... Don't get me wrong. I love Linux Mint, and use it exclusively on all of my non-work devices, but it has some rough edges. Image viewers and screen shots are two. Screenshots are quite easy. There's a built-in app called Screenshot. Also, you can download an app called Shutter (which I use). If ...

Re: How to combine partitions

Actually, you have 3 partitions, #1 is a Primary partition which is the boot partition. #6 and #5 are Logical partitions that are contained within #2 which is an Extended partition. I don't think it'll be easy to move the Extended partition, but someone with more experience may have the answer. Mode...
