Bonjour. J'utiliserais des disques pour vérifier et éventuellement réparer le système de fichiers pour les partitions. Vous devrez peut-être démarrer une clé USB live de Mint et exécuter des disques à partir de celle-ci.

In Cinnamon, Menu / Notifications settings has a "test notification" button.

Where is this test notification from? Can you describe how this is done to get a test notification?

Also, many times over the years from several programs, OSes, I've gotten this type of text as a test. It's always in Latin.

There are basically two ways you could do this. If you just want to run Linux, you can run the live USB version. Is Secure Boot off in UEFI (BIOS)? Not sure, I haven't bios password then at present I don't know how to check it. Anyway in the same pc I installed openSUSE then probably Secure Boot is off. Not necessarily. One can install openSUSE with secure boot on. Have you tried to remove the BIOS password? ...

This sounds like a nightmare. I think you should just ditch that system. Format, reinstall, start over. Just get rid of Windows completely.
