Re: Firefox was good BUT, ...lately

Why don't you post the complaint at a Mozilla forum? Why don't you supply any information about OS version and FIrefox version? Why don't you specify any of the websites where the problem exists? Kind of harsh, no? We have a Software & Applications forum for just this reason. Yes, more informat...

Re: Firefox was good BUT, ...lately

I've removed Firefox several moths ago because it's been very slow. I had it on my laptop and Android tablet as my secondary browser but it got slower, even without extensions, etc.

Re: Why did you switch

I can't say I've "switched" because I have to use Windows (10) at work and I need it for TurboTax. I starting looking into Linux flavors starting with Windows 8. I felt that Microsoft really screwed around and made me feel I was under their thumb. I finally settled on Mint because it's eas...

Re: I am absolutely confused between these two Links from The Mint Official site

The link from the Official User Guide is only if you want to verify the ISO from Windows. If you only have Windows as your operating system, you need to follow that.

If you already have a version of Linux, you can follow this:

Re: Intel 3.40GHz CPU Clocking At 900 GHZ Slow System

My results are similar to yours. There's nothing wrong. Linux will keep your CPU at its lowest frequency (usually) because of the governor it uses. Type this into terminal: cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_governor This will show which governor you are using. If it's ondemand or powe...

Re: Linux Mint 18.1 and Windows 8

In Windows, go to Disk Management. It is equivalent to Linux Gparted. This will show all your partitions. Some may be set as hidden when you use File Manager Here's my hard drive shown using Disk Management: Disk Management.jpg The 1st partition (60.00 GB) is my Windows 10. You may have others such...

Re: linux mint 17.3 + chromium

Yes, 17.3 is an LTS, but only until 2019, which for me is not that far off. 18/18.1 is also LTS, until 2021.

I would think that the packages and dev tools you have would work in 18/18.1

Re: Install Linux Mint on Macbook A1181

You may need to change your settings in Open Firmware (Mac's version of a BIOS) to get it to boot from USB or CD.

I have no experience with Mac, so that's all I can do.

Re: linux mint 17.3 + chromium

Have you tried LM 18 or 18.1? If you really need the higher version of Chromium, this would be an option.

My advice is to put 18/18.1 on a USB drive to test.

You can try to install it using Wine. I'd give it a try. Won't hurt anything.

Re: Can print, not scan

I had come across similar advice. However ... 1) How do I find out the IP address of the device? 2) The guy is using Linux Mint 18, I'm using Linux Mint 17.3 (Rosa) 64-bit ... does that make a difference? This is from the XP-410's manual: Capture_001.jpg Also, you may want to have the wireless rout...
