Re: Is Linux Mint the right choice for me?

Bit of background first. Linux.... That word alone sends shivers up my spine. Quite frankly, its terrifying. Why? Because Im dumb. Ive been spoon fed MS crap all of my life. I dont have programming chops, coding is an alien language to me, and everytime Ive tried to use any distro of Linux it bites...

Bonsoir tout le monde! Je cherche à faire tourner un émulateur GBA sous mint et je rencontre quelques problèmes. Re: USB thumbdrive is being auto-mounted under root ownership

When I plug in a USB flash "thumbdrive" it gets auto-mounted under /media/usb0 There is only one thing on earth that does that and it's the package: usbmount It's designed for a server not a desktop system and interferes with the way a desktop system auto mounts usb devices under /media/$...

Re: I screwed up an EFI boot loader

Everything in your last post is helpful or confirmatory, such that I'm considering making this issue 'solved'. I'll first get my kernel's straight. Regarding that item about no windows 8.1, yes, I can't seem to get into windows 8.1 dual boot. I'm going to update my kernel, (remove 4.10, too) and th...

Re: I screwed up an EFI boot loader

Some progress. Thanks for the help, looks, good vibes. If I try to use kernel 4.10, I get prompted to "skip mounting or mount manually" For some reason I thought I should try kernel 3.19. Well, that works. I'm currently updating my packages. So: questions 1) why isn't kernel 4.10 working....
