A LOT of us are/were Windows refugees. Some, like I am, still have to use Windows for one reason or another.

Restore Settings from Cinnamon to MATE

Because I'm the computer guy at home, I take care of the desktop and my laptop. I updated my partner's desktop from 18.1 to 18.2. Both now have 18.2 Cinnamon 64-bit. I'm starting to really like MATE, which means if I change my laptop from Cinnamon to MATE, I will do the same to his desktop. I've alr...

Re: Printers

Thanks for your patience , but I Fear it about to run out! I confess I misunderstood the USB connection bit but I now realise your talking about a hard connection between laptop and printer. No I don't have a USB connection as the printer has only ever been used as a WiFi printer so no other leads....

Temporarily set a new theme. Then shut down. Start up and see if you have the temp theme in place. You'll know if persistence is working.

MS will legally let you download Windows 10. If you do find your product key for your previous Windows 8 AND it wasn't an OEM version, you should be able to install Win 10.

Re: Switching From Linux Mint 17.3 Rosa To Windows 8...

... I know, I know. Microsoft doesn't value user's privacy, but I can't do anything with Linux. I wanna go back to gaming on Steam. I wanna be able to download (almost) any program and for it to simply work, instead of hoping Wine supports it. I just like Windows' simpler way of doing things. When ...

Did you use file manager or a program in Windows to write/create the files the Blueray disc?

Re: Struggling with dual-boot decision

I'm in the market for a new laptop. I don't think I will ever need Windows 10, but cannot be certain of that. Assuming I get a Dell Precision w/o Windows, would it be feasible to install Windows 10 at a later date, and then Linux Mint along side it? Presently I am dual-booting Linux Mint 18.2 and W...

Wish I knew more about how to help. :(

The reason I posted is that I noticed your CPU results and noticed that all your cores/threads are running at max. That's not usual.

Re: Color rendition

Replying to my own question, in case someone else runs into the same issue. Problem was that the profile set in menu-preferences-color was 'best RGB'. This is a wide gamut profile, as opposed to my monitor's profile, which is close to sRGB. Setting to the default manufacturer's profile fixed the pr...
