Yes, please check the cause of that!

My laptop was always getting very hot. I decided to remove the fan and not much to my surprise, the fins were clogged.

udayukp, I just created a Live USB drive using Rufus (with the NTFS option instead of FAT32). I was hoping that Rufus would use a larger casper file (persistence) without the restriction of 4 GB of FAT32. Unfortunately, the size of Home was still 4 GB. Open Gparted (if you don't have it installed, install it from the Software Manager.

See you can view the USB drive and does it have any error messages?

In Synaptic, highlight Thunderbird (version 60), then on the Package menu, choose Force version... You should be able to select 52.9 version

Are you running Mint from a USB flash drive? If so, you are probably running a live version without any persistence, so your settings aren't being saved.
