Check to see if your printer has that feature built in. Some printers do. Re: I'm gonna need a little help with Virtualization...

Lot of questions in one post, so I'm just going to answer this: Like, once it's there, do I need to install another OS like a paid version of Windows 2016? 'cause if so, I think I'll ditch Mint entirely and only run one OS for everything :( In order to run the bidding software, you'd need a copy of ...

Re: How do I print a poster?

What I'm trying to do here is break up an image (poster, map, picture) so that I can enlarge the image onto 4 sheets, 6 sheets, etc. that I can trim and tape together. In my case it's an old (1850s) southern Ontario map that I'd like to post on my wall. Genealogy stuff . . . I did manage it by crop...

Is it possible for the installer to recognize that there's a video card which needs the ‘nomodeset' switch?

How large does the win10 partition need to be, the entire eMMC ssd is only 32gig.
Boot the live USB of Mint then run this command in Terminal:

Code: Select all

inxi -Fxz
then copy and paste the result within code tags.

This will give us information we need to assess the notebook.

Re: HP printer doesn't work with Mint 18.3

... This seems surprising but I can't live without a printer so my questions are: - Is there a solution to this? There is, but we don't know just what it is---yet. ... - Would it be any different if I did a clean install of 18.3? I would do this as one of the last resorts. ... - Is it likely to be ...

That's not a lot of room for 2 OSes to reside.

You definitely have a system capable of running a Virtual Machine with no problem. Try Mazda81's advice.

Post the results of this command from Terminal:

Code: Select all

inxi -Fxz
and place the text between Code tags.

That will give us information we need to help.

Probably no point in anybody commenting further. I think marypoppins is just one of those people who come here to grumble and promote some other distro. Sign up, make one or two posts, and move one.

The hardest part of managing a hive of Windows PCs is managing the users. Here is a typical morning: I just clicked OK and now I can't see my files. I accidently drag-dropped my presentations folder somewhere and now I can't find it. The computer says Windows needs to reboot to complete updates... ...

Your swap partition doesn't need to be that large. Swap is used when RAM is insufficient or if you use hibernation. Usually, swap is 1.5 times the amount of your RAM.

Re: Kinda sorta not Linux question, but still it is

This would be on the same hardware, simply updated Mints from bare metal, in both instances, the laptop and the desktop. I wonder if VB reassigns the same values based on your hardware and Windows doesn't see any change? Unless things have changed since I contacted MS, no, Windows will view the VM ...
