Re: LM17.3 - LVM resize, not showing change in volume.

Turns out the logical volume needed expanding as well. First locate the amount of free 'PE': $ sudo vgdisplay --- Volume group --- VG Name mint-vg ...... Free PE / Size 3624 / 14.16 GiB ...... Then you copy this into the lvextend command: $ sudo lvextend -l +3624 /dev/mint-vg/root Size of logical vo...

[SOLVED] LM17.3 - LVM resize, not showing change in volume.

Hello As mentioned i had a LinuxMint17.3 install which i expanded on a USB with gparted. After booting the installation does not recognize the new space and comes up with a false low number in nemo. The df command is not recognising the new space either. What is happening? Why can't LinuxMint detect...

Re: why gnome is so popular?

I started using it a while ago and i really like it now. KDE and Cinnamon try bringing 10+ options to you all the time and it's a mess. GNOMEv3 gives you 1 method of doing everything and expects you to learn it. It's weird at first but you grow used to it, it's a less 'in your face' desktop. GNOMEv3...

Re: i love mint but this make me sad

What are these Blobs supposed to do? Blobs in the Linux kernel are drivers for hardware, they apparently don't open source this code to prevent misuse of their hardware (and theft of their IP). With Mint/Ubuntu these non-free drivers are loaded for you, this is very nice because it means the deskto...

Re: This time I *really* can't believe the Windows fanboys!

it is said the the win-10 telemetry is "just technical data" to enable the windows system to be refined .. but - no-one will ever really know the answer to that one. .. If it was just for technical purposes why would they need to share with Law enforcement and other agencies? surely they would keep...

Re: LM18 constantly disconnecting from multiple sources.

Tried disabling the hwencryption module, no luck.

Ended up using Debian GNOME instead. I imagine 17.3 would have also worked great.

Thanks everyone.

Re: Proprietary Software - Is it really an issue?

But what about Adobe Flash? Though it may not be perfect or 'free', it does its job for about 80% of the people actively using it. It ties you to Adobe, it also adds a security risk by running random binaries. I'm not saying it's bad to use free alternatives; but if there's software that has nothin...

Re: How to install TOR (latest)?

From: https://www.torproject.org/projects/torbrowser.html.en To run Tor Browser, click either on the Tor Browser or the Tor Browser Setup icon or execute the start-tor-browser.desktop file in a terminal: ./start-tor-browser.desktop This will launch Tor Launcher and once that connects to Tor, it will...

Re: Newbie on Linux but eager to learn

I want to make a clean installation for that, I can create a swap partition in the installer right? I saw a couple of tutorials for installing Debian and they always make a swap partition before installing the system, as same as Moem, thank you mate! :D I am not sure if the LM installer has an opti...

Hmmm, well let me see, I might give it a shot now, but I wanted to have that nice looking desktop  There is really not much difference. If your worried about low memory it is probably better to configure some swap space: https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-add-swap-on-ubunt...

Check if you did enable scripts. At least the most important one :)
Not using a script blocker, strange! I just signed it on my phone instead.
