Yep, Mute Ant! Thank you for advice. First I tried Grub Customizer to manually fix it, funny that only after that I found I could press E when booting Grub2.
Now it works.

Also, thank you, Cosmo. Perhaps some day will try out your advice.

Re: Doesn't boot. Volume6 doesn't exist. Mint 17.3

Yeah, but considering I am novice it will be really hard for me to recall how to configure Mint again (mpv mouse bindings, custom keyboard layout etc) which all needs manual text editing settings files.

Re: [Solved] Getting CUDA running on MINT 17.1

Yes, I did. Aside from drivers I had to install modprobe package which I believe I found somewhere here: ftp://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/nvidia-modprobe/ https://www.archlinux.org/packages/extra/x86_64/opencl-nvidia/ https://slackbuilds.org/repository/14.1/system/nvidia-legacy340-driver/ Don't rem...

Re: How to launch program with command outside of terminal?

I am glad you tried to help me and yes, I forgot to post information about my PC, sorry for this newbish mistake. It's Linux Mint 17.3 Cinnamon. Not sure if other information is useful but why not: T410 with Nvidia GPU. At the end I just moved newly installed QT libraries to the default path of olde...

Re: [Solved] Getting CUDA running on MINT 17.1

Could you please tell me step-by-step how to install this nvidia-modprobe because it's insane how ZERO information you can find in Internet for BASIC stuff which newbies still won't know.

I have Mint 17.3 Cinnamon, 340.96 driver. Thank you.

How to launch program with command outside of terminal?

Hello. I need to launch program with command LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/opt/qt55/lib because qt55 installed in opt instead of usr/lib. Workaround now to use LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/opt/qt55/lib ./SVPManager in terminal but I would like to put this command in SVP's shortcut on the desktop or fix it in another way. In...

LOL. Just after trial and error accidentally found that when I type password it actually is typed but I don't see that happening in the Terminal! Well, that is something I didn't expect at all. Aalthough yeah, it's good safe measure... for those who don't trust even knowledge of passwrod's symbols n...

Why "sudo" hangs terminal for me since the beginning?

Hello dear Linux Mint users. I have a newbie question to solve a mystery which happens with me since the first meeting with Linux. It happened with me on previous laptop (MSI GE70) and happens now too (GT780). The mystery is that when I started using Linux I met with the fact that you need to use Te...

Re: How to arrange icons on Desktop forever?

Guys, here is an important observation I made! When the checkbox "Arrange icons by net" is clicked they actually ARE arranged but only vertically! I mean there are invisible vertical columns so icon can't be crossed by those invisible vertical lines! But here is a question... why it's not the same w...

Re: What OS type to choose when install Linux Mint in Virtua

I don't know where you take from 5.0.3. In VB versions with odd numbers at the end are developer builds, not for release. More like test builds If you are experiencing some problem with VirtualBox and want to find out whether it has been fixed before you file a bug report , or if you just want to t...

Re: What OS type to choose when install Linux Mint in Virtua

Rereading your first post I see, that you want to to install a 64 bit guest and in this case selecting a 64 bit OS type is crucial. This is not a matter of stability, but of the settings. See chapter 1.7 and 3.1.2 in the help file of VB. Yes, I chose 64 bit everywhere I believe. Maybe I will try ag...

Re: What OS type to choose when install Linux Mint in Virtua

Thank you, guys. What were the problems you had? Emm, latest problems I had was with 5.02 Virtual Box. Whenever I tried to install Cinnamon 17.2 as Other Linux I had just Black screen in 5 seconds after booting from iso. I saw green symbols and text as usual and then nothing. However when I used Ubu...

Well, I thought that different distributives/builds contain different summary of packets which developers choose unless original author/contributor is against this.

Bring additional tab HashTab to properties window of file

Hello. Now when you right click any file and click properties you can see 4 tabs (Basics, Permissions, Open with and Emblems). Why not to give an option (checkbox) for 5-th called HashTab which would both show you checksumms of current file (MD5 etc) and option to compare with another file? I found ...
