Re: 17.1 seems to have borked itself and my storage drive

Hi Penn The 1T is a windows drive but LM messed it up somehow when I hooked it up to the Linux box to extract data from it as I can't get my windows box to boot with a 2nd drive attached. There was no problem getting data of it using the LM boot CD but the installed LM on a different drive tried to ...

Re: 17.1 seems to have borked itself and my storage drive

The drive was fine before LM did what it did. I have a pair of them I got brand new a while back to set up a RAID array with and copied files off it using the LM boot disk so I know it's likely fixable. I'm not in any panic to get it done so will just need to look further afield for answers. There a...

Re: 17.1 seems to have borked itself and my storage drive

I just hooked up the other 1T drive to access and copy files off it to a USB drive but my LM install on the 500G went ahead on it's own and installed GRUB before actually booting up then came up with a buggered black and white GRUB menu. I haven't been able to get it to boot since. I have made no at...

17.1 seems to have borked itself and my storage drive

Wasn't sure where to post this as it's software and hardware related and possibly an act of a malevolent god. I built a system out of a case I scrounged from the dump and spare parts lying around the house. Can't see how the hardware matters with this problem but it's an ASUS M3A MB, 500W Cool Power...

Re: Greetings from the Great White North

Thanks for the warm welcome all! Looks like I've found something to get me a little more excited about computing again and help me break my Spider Solitaire addiction. Already puzzled about why it didn't keep my resolution change from yesterday. I'm running it on an old VGA monitor for now th...

Re: Another Reason

I just installed Avast on a friend's laptop and even used Custom Install so I could uncheck the crapware but it slipped Chrome in there anyhow. That's just wrong.

Re: List of support TV tuner card on Linux mint and How to

Thank you serbian! I just installed 17.1 today and am using Linux since I last tried it 10 years ago. RedHat I believe. A big concern for me was being able to use my ATI WonderCard with it and it seems it's on the GO list so that's another big plus toward skipping a dual-boot system and going full M...

Great to hear a good review by somebody that seems to know his stuff xfrank.

I'm just playing around with it now as a total nOOb and liking it great so far.

Would have been right p-oed if that was a rant instead of a rave. :)

Greetings from the Great White North

High folks Tired of the Window$ merry-go-round so after humming and hawing for the last year decided to get into Linux and Mint or Ubuntu was top of mind. A buddy said go with Mint so what the heck. :) A trip to the dump 2 days ago got me a nice case and as the MB in my main machine is melting down ...
