Re: How much memory does the graphics adapter have ?

Your own read out states 3226MB as being free, 52MB "shared" as in used by GPU.

Then I take a time machine restore point from 0800, then everything from today have been reset.
I'll be back in some time, after restoring and installing 4.13.
Thanks so far.

Re: Help to get nVidia GTX980M drivers working

The nVidia is seen now, was it not earlier "in the thread"

Code: Select all

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GM204M [GeForce GTX 980M] (rev a1)
So something have happened in the process of getting closer to the goal, but not all the way there yet.
Any suggestions?

Re: Help to get nVidia GTX980M drivers working

After reading a bit more on the net, the setting of the GLX renderer is set for intel integrated GPU, thus my mind concludes that the linux kernel is stating that the intel is supposed to do all graphic rendering, and not changing over to the nVidia. catweazel, thx for info, don't seem to be the sol...

Re: Help to get nVidia GTX980M drivers working

I have now re-tried it 3 times, and the game (Civ. VI) only sees the intel 530 integrated GPU, not the nVidia GPU. Seems as if the intel GPU is native active, unable to load change to the "big boy" nVidia. Is there a way to make the nVidia active as "Native"? I don't care about the extra power consu...

Re: Help to get nVidia GTX980M drivers working

Hi again. Whilst waiting for your reply, I updated the kernel to 4.15.22, and still no difference. Have now "re-done" your nVidia deleting, new install of 384, and here is new result of inxi: System: Host: martin Kernel: 4.15.0-22-generic x86_64 (64 bit gcc: 5.4.0) Desktop: Cinnamon 3.6.6 (Gtk 3.18....

Re: Help to get nVidia GTX980M drivers working

Hi Mattyboy. Thx for your small guide. This time my complete system did not crash, but still 384 selected/shown as possibillity. But when I start Steam-->Civ. VI, then the graphic is incomplete, blue areas in stead of "filling" in i.e. clothing, and the game is unable even to do a benchmark. Conclus...

Help to get nVidia GTX980M drivers working

Hi folks. I'm running Mint 18.3 cinamon on a Acer Predator 09-591-726M (most hw stated in signature). I have attempted to get nvidia driver running, but so far all attempts have failed, distro crashes. I have installed time machine, so easy restore points have been made. [Solved] Update mannager error, not Chrome

Hi folks.
I'm unable to get my update mannager to update the lists, giving this error:

I have checked both DA and EN files, and both have been changed by my previous internet connection due to data maxed out.
How do I get these two files reset?

If anybody have a solution to the STEAM trouble on Linux Mint MATE (Rafaela 17.2), then please post it here.

No sound after installing Steam

Hi there. I have spent some time trying to figure out this problem my self, but so far no luck. I have audio both in headset and speakers when clean install (17.1), and updates installed (17.2), but after installing Steam (after upgrading to 17.2), sound is lost from my speakers, but not my headset....

Re: Do I need a SWAP file or partition? (8GB RAM)

Swapping might be necessary if you do video editing or other memory intensive applications. If you don't have swap defined and you do run out of memory you will loose your work. If you want to understand more read here >> https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SwapFaq Thx. for that link. Very good guide...

Re: unable to boot from USB after dual boot Win 8.1/mint 17.

Question a) and b) have been fixed now. :D I installed USB-Creator-gtk, and used it to mount my LM17-1 Mate ISO file on my 8GB stick. That way my F12 one time boot menu accepted it as a boot drive, and I could boot on it, use gparted included in it, and move and increase the size of my /dev/s...
