Re: Scanning documents with large paper size

Thanks rossdv8, I do have CUPS installed, but was not able to find anything scan related. Going through the printer setup options, there is a paper size setting in the "Copy" section, but I assume this only applies to direct copy operations, not scans - the maximum paper size is "Lett...

Re: Scanning documents with large paper size

Thanks rossdv8, Did you download the Linux drivers here: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/se ... l/17157080 Yes, that's the driver I am using. I am not sure about the physical connection being the issue. My laptop and the scanner are both connected via ethernet cable and a switch/router (no WiFI...

Re: Scanning documents with large paper size

Hi all, thank you fir the suggestions. The scanner / printer is a Samsung SCX-4729FW I have no idea if the paper size limitation is coming from the scanner itself... Ben's suggestion to do the second upside down scan and then stitch them together would work; but I was hoping to find some setting som...

Re: Scanning documents with large paper size

Well, ok, that's an option and maybe even the right one...

So I should have asked "What is the easiest way to do this with LinuxMint?"

Thanks again...

Scanning documents with large paper size

Hello all, I am trying to scan a document that is longer that US-Legal size using ADF (automatic document feeder). I used the "Simple Scan" software, with "Automatic" paper size selection (other than that, the largest option available is "Legal"), but the result was cut...

No, they all have different names.

Re: Cannot connect to 2.4Ghz WiFi network but 5Ghz works

By "Live Mint" do you mean LinuxMint running from a USB stick? I can try that. Two other things: 1. I can connect to other 2.4 networks without issue; just not this one 2. Based on a google search for the log error message, I found something about disabling 802.11n mode; but I haven't foun...

That didn't help either, unfortunately... Is there a chance that something might show up in some logs somewhere?

They already have 2 different names, that's why I know which one works and which one doesnt :)

Cannot connect to 2.4Ghz WiFi network but 5Ghz works

Hello, I have a powerline network adapter that has a 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz Wifi network. I have both of them enabled with similar configuration (password, etc). I am able to connect all my devices to both of them, except for my LinuxMint laptop. The LinuxMint laptop is able to connect to the 5GHz network,...

@Patronon's " even if I just scroll up and down on this web page right here (Firefox open just one tap) , the CPU usage of cinnamon goes way up high to 50- 60 % for a short moment. " - I do still notice that now even with the original issue no longer happening. Anything that causes a chang...

The break did not last long - nemo-desktop is back at over 150% CPU and now using up a ton of memory as well
System Monitor is showing 2.6GB "virtual memory", 1.6GB "resident memory", 1.6GB "Memory"

Thank you, Petermint, I did disable Thumbnail Preview completely, waited a bit, but CPU usage stayed at close to 200%. Then I killed nemo-desktop, and it came backup behaving nicely (so far - usually it comes back and just goes right back up beyond 150% CPU); so that might have been it. I'll post an...

It started again - same 3 processes; mostly using up CPU, but not much memory (nemo-desktop 400MB, cinnamon 250MB, gvfsd-metadata <2MB)
