Re: [SOLVED] Please help! USB Despair!

Thanks for the help. I've managed to track down a computer at the office that's not in the main network so didn't have any permission restrictions. Managed to burn what I needed to disk and transfer to my other USB drive. Looks like the old one was corrupted, managed to run a fix on Windows and get ...

Sorry The closest I can find to a location is where it states: Device: /dev/sdb EDIT: OK If I click it I get: The file "sdb" has no known programs associated with it. If you trust the source of this file, and have sufficient permissions, you can mark it executable and launch it. Or, you can use the ...

[SOLVED] Please help! USB Despair!

Hi guys and girls. I'm in a spot of bother - when my old Windows Laptop died I managed to rescue some very important documents and photographs on a barely used TDK 8gb USB 2.0 drive. These files are not stored anywhere else and I really don't want to lose them. I tried the USB on another Windows com...

Re: Why use linux

I generally find that even if you tell a Windows user that Linux is dead easy to use, can do real work in the real world, etc, etc, they do not believe you. The idea that Linux is a big bulky operating system for huge servers controlled by an super IT specialist typing commands on a terminal is so ...

Re: Why Linux? Why not Microsoft?

Because Microsoft are crooks. Plain and simple.

Also, windows is slow, heavy, bug riddled, spyware riddled, malware riddled, not open source and plain sh*t.

Do You Use Command Line/Terminal?

So I'm relatively new to Linux Mint (which I think is the best OS I have ever used) and up to this point I have been pretty lazy when it comes to Command Line/Terminal so thought I'd but in more effort to learn and use it properly. Wow. I love it! It makes me feel techy when in reality I'm still lea...

Re: Manuals and Guides

Thought I would share this for anybody looking to learn how to use terminal/command line.

It's a fantastic guide from Floss Manuals and is pretty in depth!

Enjoy! http://en.flossmanuals.net/command-line/

Re: What made you switch to Linux Mint?

I had never been the most computer savvy until a few years ago. After 5 laptops in 6 years with Windows (probably could have fixed them if I knew how at the time) when the last one gave up the ghost I decided to teach myself how to fix up laptops and get a bit more tech savvy with regards to coding/...
