Re: cant install amd graphics drivers

If you search the net ,only some AMD CPUs have Linux CPUs and drivers. If your CPU isn't supported, don't try the drivers. If you have an AMD.
Paste output of

Code: Select all

 inxi -Fxz
command in code tags.

Re: Linux Mint 19.1 will not boot after improper power off

Boot from live USB and run following.

Code: Select all

. sudo fsck -y /dev/sda
Reboot from HDD. This should resolve file system inconsistent blocks

Re: Lost my Cinnamon, boot opens in terminal

You can only install the driver on the supported AMD processors, otherwise good chance of system being borked.

If possible restore system from backups or fresh install as it's an involved process to roll back

Re: Is my disk failing?

While 187 and 188 are certainly no good the most important one(s) is/are 5 (and 196/197) and those are perfect for your disk. What this would to me seem to say is that your disk is fine --- but your cabling is not. Note, not stated with 100% confidence, but I'd therefore not worry about the disk as...

I am not smart enough to help but I hope you have a recent backup just in case.
I do have a backup, but it's nice to know if it's failing beforehand

Re: Clone zilla restore of UEFI Mint and Windows

Thanks, I see what you want to do. Full-disk clone will not give you enough flexibility in resizing / reorganising partitions on your new disk. You do not want to do all kinds of "sliding", resizing part on the end, then moving beginning of part, then moveing end of next part etc etc. Yes, gparted ...

I do not think that I am understanding you...do you mean my first line in whatever code that I am writing? or do you mean that I need to put that into terminal whenever I go to use Virtualenv?
