I feel that the program won't freeze Mint and finally you have to reboot.Any multitasking os shouldn't give 100%of resources for hours together. system.

gparted is the disk manager grafic utility which should be used in Mint after booting from live usb. diskparts is Windows utility.

Mont doesn't have a server version. Ubuntu has.Its character oriented ,but a minimum gui can be installed on it.

Read write on pen drives slows down in general as the data on the p.d. increases. You will find many such references if you search the internet. IMO you have to either start using USB 3.0 removable HDD . Ssd will give blazing speed. Nothing can be done on Mint side I feel.

After autologin in Mint there was no prompt from the browser for a password. You can try it with Mint.
