Is there a Linux history any place?
Here is a very brief overview and here is a more in-depth article. Wikipedia has a pretty good entry too.
Thank you. It's interesting read.

AFAIK there is no point in opening the isos in a terminal. There is nothing human readable.

I think this is the guy you mean: https://forums.linuxmint.com/memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=156173 Unfortunately, he's no longer active on this forum. He's had some arguments with some people, which led him to cease his activity. It's a real pity, because he was very active, very helpful and v...

Re: Mint 19 Intel graphics Acer laptop: Screen randomly goes black with second monitor plugged in

It is advised to upgrade from version 18.3 to 19 and not from 17 to 19. Boot live USB version 19, do you get the same problem?

Re: Mint 18.3 and Android x86

You can install Android Studio, which can be installed and run as just another Mint program.
You don't require a separate partition of it. You can do all Android development.

Re: kernel update requires change to mount command?

You must be aware that you can boot to 4.4 by choosing advanced options in grub and choosing 4.4. When upgrading the kernel in upgrade manager you get a tab indicating the new changes Incorporated.

Re: Scaning with HP Deskjet

You can try installing the kernel used in 18.3 in 19, reboot and test.
In grub advanced menu gives you option to boot from any of the installed kernels.

I just thought, last try could be to force a generic x264 codec and disable the audio:

Code: Select all

mpv --demuxer=mkv --vd=h264 -no-audio Shane.1953.720p.BluRay.X264-AMIABLE.mkv
I don't think it will work, but at least you tried.
Yes I tried. It says unable to recognize file format
