Best thing would be to back up your data, install kde fresh , then restore your data.

Re: How to auto-repair a damaged Mint?

There is no provision for auto repair. Best thing is to keep 15% of the space free otherwise weird things can happen

Re: I've lost the wireless usb

Install UKUU, Ubuntu Kernel Upgrade Utility. With the help of UKUU, install highest numbered kernel 4.18.x version series, reboot and test. Good luck.

Re: [SOLVED] Display resolution after new install

Since running Linux Mint for awhile now, I had never encountered the Display feature showing Unknown VGA. Yesterday I found the cause. It turned out to be a loose VGA cable connection at the monitor itself. After connecting the cable firmly, the Display feature recognized my monitor and its native ...

Re: [SOLVED] Mint 19 Cinnamon unable to install gcc-8

You're welcome. Finally you can get to GCC'ing :) Its all because of you who did the hand holding very patiently excusing my mistake to disable the PPA. May be if the ppa wasnt enabled, the issue would not have risen. But again I enabled it in desperation when I wasnt able to install gcc-8, thinkin...

Then redo the following to, again, reinstall gcc packages and hopefully this time manage to get the...

Installed from the package gcc-8 in the Ubuntu 18.04 repository, /usr/bin/gcc-8 is a symoblic link to /usr/bin/x86_64-linux-gnu-gcc-8.

I can only guess it's still installed from somewhere else. What does this show:
apt policy gcc-8
/usr/bin/gcc-8 is a directory and not a file
