or study how network-manager uses dhclient and resolvconf and this can work together with a third party VPN client which is not aware about these tools, then you can UNDERSTAND a problem AND FIX it. ;)

Re: How is DNS managed?

Hello badams_ios, Elizine! Thanks a lot for your replies. @badams_ios: it is impressive what u know about this topic. i admit, i did not clearly formulate my question: How is DNS managed on LM(DE2)? (it is slightly different than How does DNS work...) The answer which works for me is: It is managed ...

Re: UX of MATE desktop

thanks for the replies. Till i find a more user friendly way i use xinput --disable 'AlpsPS/2 ALPS GlidePoint' to get rid of the touch pad and point stick when i don't want them to be active. A "user friendly" way (in my opinion) would be when the system automatically disables those devices when i p...

qemu-kvm doesn't boot guest from usb stick connected to host

Hello, i created a virtual machine using virt-manager, and attached the SanDisk USB stick (which contains a bootable LMDE2 image) via a usb-host-device to the guest. The VM is not able to boot from that device, it is even not visible in the F12 boot menu (i activated the USB device in virt-managers ...

well, i followed the advice, and tried Rufus, although it is not a multi boot creation tool. But it worked, LMDE2 is booting now.
Thanks all for pointing me to the right direction!

Re: LMDE2 Betsy doesnt boot due to dm-raid45 not in modules.

grabbed a new iso image, checked the md5sum after downloading, and it matched the one mentioned on the download page. used XBoot again to create a multi boot usb drive. after that i used md5sum to get the checksum of the iso image which was stored onto the usb drive. It differs now. XBoot wrote that...

Alright, let me see... Did you check the md5sum? What tool did you use to create the live usb? Alt+f n doesn't work on my computer unless I do Ctrl+Alt{f n , so I always try to be specific since I don't know the expertise level of the person I'm trying to help. ;) i checked the md5sum now, it does ...

Re: LMDE2 Betsy doesnt boot due to dm-raid45 not in modules.

In that case, Betsy is booting; it's just not loading the login screen. ;) When you get to that point, can you press Ctrl+Alt+f6 and tell me precisely what you see? Also, have you installed it on either machine? If so, which one? Or is this a live disk problem? ( well, maybe its booting. if so, its...

Re: LMDE2 Betsy doesnt boot due to dm-raid45 not in modules.

So i assume that simply LMDE2 Betsy simply is not bootable at all :) Wait a moment. I thought you were just asking about the message. Is Betsy not booting at all? If not, how are you seeing the message? That's usually the last one in the boot process. :? Yes, as i wrote in the headline of this init...

Dualboot installation with Win7: Mint not bootable

Hello, on a laptop which has Win7 already installed i installed Linux Mint 17.2 after booting Mint using a USB flash drive. With gparted i reduced the size of the Windows partition to 100GB so that i get a free partition of 150GB to be used by Mint. The Mint installer recognised Win7 and i choosed t...

Re: LMDE2 Betsy doesnt boot due to dm-raid45 not in modules.

Yesterday i got the chance to boot the LMDE2 Betsy on a laptop which does not have any raid device (only one disk with NTFS / Win7). But that error happens there too.
So i assume that simply LMDE2 Betsy simply is not bootable at all :)

LMDE2 Betsy doesnt boot when using XBoot for bootable USB

Hello, EDIT : corrected title of post! It turned out that if was a problem of the boot iSO created by Windows XBoot multi boot image creator. I used another USB boot drive creator (Rufus) and it worked! i just loaded LMDE 2 Betsy on a USB pen drive and wanted to try it on my machine. My machine runs...
