Re: Mint-Y

Wait for Mint18. The theme is buillt for gtk3.18 so won't work properly with ... LMDE. With my usual skill for disregarding instructions, I have to admit I ignored this. Mint-Y is very nice on LMDE Betsy. :) Though of course I'm sure there are issues that I just haven't run into yet... you could tr...

Re: Arc Theme - Could need a helping hand...

I know the synaptic & software center issues are because the theme is in ~/.themes those apps (wich require root privileges to run) will load the root equivalent of the active theme (under /usr/share/themes). If gnome dosen't find the right theme in /usr/share/themes, it will load the default gnome-...

Re: Text color

My understanding is Emerald is part of Compiz. I know Compiz can do both the things trippin wants to do but I hear it can be buggy on Mint. I know it was when I tried it on 17.1 on one machine. In the monthly blog post Clem was asked about transparent windows (post 86 http://blog.linuxmint.com/?p=3...

Re: Bash on Linux on Win 10

I think windoze's bash will only be able to run text-only apps, since x.org or wayland won't have the dependencies needed to run, thus disabling the option of running Linux GUIs or graphical applications.

Re: Text color

let's see, you want to edit your system-wide text color, right? (say, nemo, gimp, system settings...) if you're using a custom theme, back it up and then place a copy in ~/.themes. rename it to a name of your taste. next, open the gtk-2.0 folder and open the gtkrc archive. Edit every value having "f...

Re: Remove the gap from the Cinnamon Menu

Thank you very much! It worked perfectly for the Vertex theme. :D Unfortunately, this value breaks some other themes like this one: http://img.overpic.net/images/k/2/x/xk2xk7m2w2vdqxhbjy74.jpg After changing the value, it has rounded corners: http://img.overpic.net/images/a/a/2/xaa2vdby0qa4q4dbh73w...

Re: customize colors of bars

If you want detailed description of how to do this say so and if I get the time I will give you one. In either /usr/share/themes or ~/your_home_folder/.themes (hidden folder) you will find your installed themes. Make a backup of the theme you want to alter just in case. In the case of Cinnamon you ...

Re: Icon location in themes

hi there,

I would have a look at the actions folders in the 16x16 and 24x24 directrories (maybe 22x22 and 32x32 can be useful too)

cheers,

Re: two minor Mint panel/menu annoyances

to change the clock color, you may have to add these lines to the gtkrc file :

style "panel" = "dark"
{
xthickness = 0
ythickness = 0
text[NORMAL] = @fg_color_dark
text[ACTIVE] = "#ffffff"
}

where you set your own hex values for the text color

Selection radius

Hi to everyone, This may not go here, but I'll post here anyways In the previous release of Mint (17.1) I could have a sharp selection border, but now I get rounded borders, like this : http://i.imgur.com/6g8kdq7.png is this a new feature in cinnamon? or am I missing something that was unnecesary in...
