Re: Need Help getting the Touchpad for the Ideapad330-15IGM to Work on Linux Mint 19.1
Late reply but I just bought the Lenovo Ideapad 330S-15IKB and the touchpad worked out of the box with Mint 19.1, Manjaro, and MX-linux. Swapped the slow HD for my Samsung 850 EVO SSD. Disabled the Intel Optane feature in the BIOS and was able to install Mint on that tiny 16GB drive. I use the Refin...

Yes, you need to know which touchpad device you have and which Kernel version are you running. There have been various touchpad related changes in recent kernels, some specific to Lenovo Ideapad, so you should be running kernel v4.19.xxJeremyB wrote: ↑Tue Jan 15, 2019 7:22 amPlease post results forCode: Select all

Re: $200 Laptop @ Best Buy - Will it work with Mint??
You might be better off looking for a second hand ex-corporate laptop, such as a Thinkpad T430. For about the same money you will get a much better machine, certainly a much faster processor. I'm pretty sure this machine will have an M.2 slot you can plug an SSD card into and the RAM is upgradable ...

Re: Linux programs come to Chromebooks
I don't see the point of this. If you want Linux apps then install a Linux distro. It works on Apollo-Lake devices if you use either 1) the rEFInd boot manager or 2) you use Linuxium's ISO respin script for Ubuntu based distro's like Mint, Lubuntu, Xubuntu, etc. A lot of schools use Chromebooks. I ...

Also, it will run faster if you move the OS from the slower eMMC drive onto the SSD.

Re: [SOLVED] Laptop Lenovo G50 internal mic not working with "inverted channel"
Thanks for this. #3 fixed it for me. I'm on a Lenovo G50-45 (AMD cpu) with v17.2 Cinnamon 64bit. Try deleting ~/.pulse* EPIC UPDATE: I did it. I found the solution in a 2010 topic in ubuntu forum. Solution 1. install pavucontrol 2. run it and go in the input tab 3. Unlock the sliders for the for th...

Re: Mint on Intel Cherry Trail
Hi there I apologize right off the bat for being completely green. I recently bought a mini PC pre loaded with Windows 10. When discovering that it was a bit sluggish, I decided to give Linux a try for the first time, for a lighter weight OS, as I have been wanting to give it a go for a while. I en...

Re: Unable to Install on Lenovo ideapad Miix 310
The solution is Linuxium's ISO respin script which works for Ubuntu, Mint, and other Debian based distro's. The links given above alluded to that.

Re: Bootable Mint usb not working in Teclast F7
Just bought a new Teclast F7, a 14" notebook with intel graphics. Win 10 preinstalled. Cheap, with modest performance but great screen and keyboard, therefore potentially an excellent linux travel computer. Strangely I have been able to install manjaro no problem but nothing will let me instal...

Re: Tablet (8'' or less) that will run a Linux distro well?
Go to TechTablets Youtube channel. He's found some Apollo-Lake Celeron N3450 quad-core 2-in-1 tablets (usually 10" to 13" in size) that boot Manjaro and some with touchscreen working. He does not thoroughly test Linux though. Just boots Manjaro from a USB drive and quickly checks wifi, tou...

Re: Boot from USB in Lenovo Yoga 720
Linuxium's ISO respin script allows you to create a custom Ubuntu ISO with the latest kernel. I don't know if it also can work with Mint. I'm guessing it may need to be modified. Ask him!

Re: LM18 suspend/hibernate/wake no work on Lenovo G50
No I gave up. I'm on 18.1 with kernel 4.10 now and still it does not work on my Lenovo G50 notebook. Well I don't know when but Suspend/wake-up started working now on my Lenovo G50-45, at least on Manjaro Linux 18.1 XFCE with Kernel 4.11.8-1 that I'm using now with the latest auto-updates applied (...

Try installing Manjaro Xfce onto a USB drive and boot from that. This might allow you to run Gparted and config your eMMC if it can be seen.

Re: excessively slow startup > 3 mins in "userspace"
I suffered with this problem for a long time but just stumbled upon the cause/solution. I had installed rEFInd to replace Grub2 and when I started up LinuxMint it shows a bunch of text lines as it is booting up. On one of these lines it showed ... "a start job is running for dev-disk-by x2duuid...

I would install "pavucontrol" (Pulse Audio) and the pulseaudio-equalizer apps. Those are the two things I use to control audio using Mate.
