How many viruses did that remove?
Dunno, all I found were a bunch of Tasmanians.

How good is Linux Mint? Real good!

Next door neighbors asked me to take a look at their Windows 10 HP laptop. I can't even begin to explain what I seen. The browser would open by itself constantly and inside the browser it would open tab after tab, each tab opening a new site. All sites were Asian of some sort, maybe Chinese? When I ...

Re: Microsoft To Ban ‘Offensive Language’ & Monitor Your Private Account

Look forward ...what bothers me about these types of controls is today its 'offensive language' but what about tomorrow? People can agree today and think nothing of it, but once its established, it opens a way for more controls. China seems to be the world leader when it comes to these types of cont...

Re: Censorship on the forum

Its poison, the whole damn lot of it. There are plenty of forums to suit your political, religious and social needs. This is Linux Mint, and I think we are lucky to have it. And I mean that in the sense that this forum is one of the friendliest forums you can find, and of coarse that has just as muc...

Re: grub/grub2 won't appear for me?

Yes try what's suggested above. It can be a bit confusing when you start out as there can be different keys to different systems that allow access to the grub menus. On my laptop I have to press the F1 key for grub, but if I use my wireless keyboard i have to press Esc to access it. Ask me how long ...

Re: Need Help!!! Bluetooth adapter not detected.

I get the same problem everytime I restart my system. A shutdown and reboot returns bluetooth, but upon restart no bluetooth adapter detected ... I've tried numerous kernels and posted a couple of threads asking for help. Thus far nothing has resolved the issue. Will be keeping an eye on this thread...

in short: Fixes for security issues.
If that's the case (and I don't doubt that it is) then why does a fix for a 'security issue' mess someone's system up when they upgrade?

Oh no, not another Kernel question ...

I've just received notice that a new Kernel is available. Currently on 4.13.0-36 and the new kernel is 4.13.0-37. Oft times I read people say 'read the changelog' when wanting to know about a new kernel, but can anyone understand what's written in the changelog? Because I know I sure can't. :? My qu...

Bluetooth: Restart Gone, Shutdown Return

Can anyone please explain and help me to fix an ongoing issue I am having with Bluetooth & Mint 18.3 ? If I restart my system I lose Bluetooth and only a Shutdown and reboot will bring it back. Its been an ongoing issue since forever and kernel after kernel doesn't fix it. Both my mouse and keyboard...

Re: 18.3 Backup Tool Instructions?

Sadly my system is in a bad way unfortunately. I just tried to reboot and it just hung there doing nothing. I thought I'd give it some time so I took a shower and whatnot and probably a half hour later it was still hanging, not rebooting at all. Holding the power button on the laptop turned it off, ...

Re: 18.3 Backup Tool Instructions?

The system is okay from what I can tell so the TimeShift snapshot should be okay. I tried what you said to directly store the files on a external SSD but it came up with an error that the SSD wasn't in the correct format. Which is strange because its formatted in ext4. I even reformatted it and it s...

Re: 18.3 Backup Tool Instructions?

You can read the blog about it. Don't miss to read the comments also. Otherwise: I strongly recommend to use a flexible and reliable backup tool. My personal choice is Back in time. I had a look at Back in time and I also found a program called TimeShift, which I think is more what I'm after (as so...

18.3 Backup Tool Instructions?

Had a scare over the weekend. I did some updates and when my system rebooted I was met with a log-on screen instead of usually going straight to desktop. I'd log-on, password and I'd get another log-on screen with a different background picture. This would go on 2-3 times and then I'd get a black sc...
