Firejail X11 isolation
Hello, guys I wonder if anyone tried and managed to get it working as it should. There is a detailed guide for Gentoo users here: https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Sakaki's_EFI_Install_Guide/Sandboxing_the_Firefox_Browser_with_Firejail Is it correct that any GUI program outside the sandbox still has acce...

Re: [SOLVED] Systray issues (after examples of Fcitx and Update Manager)
The first issue was solved by enabling indicators in Cinnamon's settings.
The second one hasn't appeared in the current version of Cinnamon yet.

Re: Nemo 4.0.6 or launchers failure? "nemo smb" linking to dirs with spaces no longer works
nemo smb://"xub1804.local/Public/Space Folder" Works. Thanks! It does work. I changed the syntax. I have marked the thread as solved. Even though the old syntax oddly fails in 19.1. It's still a working solution for me. The matter is I didn't consider making bookmarks in Nemo or having a panel laun...

Thank you! I'll try both on Monday, when I get physical access to that machine. Unfortunately I couldn't get remote connection to it just now. It could have been powered off.

Re: Systray issues (after examples of Fcitx and Update Manager)
2. The other issue is related to Fcitx as well. On one of the machines. It happened after upgrading to Mint 19.1. Fcitx loads at startup. The Update Manager loads 30 seconds after. When I close Fcitx (and it disappears from the panel), the following issue happens to the Update Manager's icon. See th...

[SOLVED] Systray issues (after examples of Fcitx and Update Manager)
Dear all, I am sorry to mention two issues at once. But they are somehow related. 1. I have Linux Mint Cinnamon on two machines (both had newly-installed 19 recently upgraded to 19.1). Both have Fcitx being used as input methods. But the icons of Fcitx appear to be different, so as the menu of the p...

They are not right on the desktop. They are in a mounted partition in fact. But they used to work there. I didn't change anything.

[SOLVED] Nemo 4.0.6 or launchers failure? "nemo smb" linking to dirs with spaces no longer works
Dear all, I have encountered an issue with some launchers I had in Linux Mint 19. The launchers had commands of the kind: nemo smb some-IP-address/ABC/'Аа Бб'/'Вв Гг' Not a real command, just a rough template. I put the Cyrillic signs just to make it more realistic, as the dirs of the 2nd level and ...

Re: Grouped Windows trouble with workspaces
Hello, I did notice some strange behaviour of this applet, too. Some of its features were adopted from the Icing Task Manager applet which I have used for several months along with the classic Window List applet by Cinnamon (the Icing Task Manager on a vertical panel and the Window List on a horizon...

Re: Lightweight Linux distros
Hereby I am updating the situation. Neither Firefox nor Chromium will start, since their latest versions require CPUs with at least SSE2. This machine's AMD Athlon XP has only SSE. So it cannot be used for internet-browsing nowadays.

I remembered about LMDE. I supposed Debian's kernels might support more hardware.
And I was able to install Betsy MATE. Going to configure it and see how it will be.

Re: Lightweight Linux distros
mr_raider , I was able to be in front of that old machine yesterday and tried installing Mint 17.1 Xfce with its default kernel from 3.13 series. I noticed that this machine's RAM was actually 512 MB. Better than 256 MB. Finally, the installation failed. To be exact, MintInstall closed itself some ...

Re: Upgrading to Linux Mint 18.2
Hello,
Applying the update that gives you the newer version of mintupdate must make you have an option in your Update Manager's "Edit" to upgrade to Linux Mint 18.2. As long as you have it there and you are sure you need to upgrade, it will be the right way to upgrade.

Re: Problem importing TOMBOY Notes w/ 18.2
Hello Lloyd, Did you copy exactly the content of ~/.local/share/tomboy/? I don't use Tomboy. But I believe the notes must be there. As an option, you can try using Gnote. It is pretty similar. And it doesn't depend on mono. Of course, you can copy the notes' content to simple text files and paste th...

Re: systemd 229-4ubuntu19
Hello,
Mint 18.2 does come with systemd.
Compare the entire version titles of the package you have and the newer package in the Update Manager. I suppose the one you have may be something like systemd 229-4ubuntu18 or earlier.

Re: Lightweight Linux distros
I just installed lubuntu 16.04 in a virtual machine using the text mode installer (alternate CD). It idles at around 190MB of RAM. Thanks! That is very low RAM consumption. Less than Linux Mint 13 Xfce run on that computer previously. I suspect it could even have 512 MB RAM. Need to check. Sorry to...
