You can record streaming audio using vlc player.
In the vlc toobar click View and check Advanced controls.
That will give you a red record button at the bottom.
What you hear is what you record.
Thanks. Sorry it took so long to reply.

Re: Making Bluetooth connection Permanent

Sorry, JeremyB, I still cannot get the Bluetooth speakers to autostart, even after your suggestion.
I reboot, then the blueberry dialog comes onscreen, but no connection.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Onscreen Audio Recorder

I used to have a sound recorder called something like Gnome Audio that would record from any source and save as a flac file.

Now I cannot seem to find it. Can someone recommend a program that does this function? Thanks

Changing Bluetooth Time Out

I just installed a set of 2 Cloud Fox F2 Bluetooth speakers.

Is there any way to lengthen the time until the time out/power saving kicks in? Right now the power saving comes on after only a few minutes of inactivity.

Thanks

Well, that sucks. I was going to try the same.

I'll let you know if I find anything else that may work.
Update: Well now after a couple of reboots, the config sticks and is ready to go on boot up. <shrug> Who knows??? :?

Making Bluetooth connection Permanent

I just set up Bluetooth for the first time to use with wireless BT speakers. The only problem that I have is that I have to connect every time that I bootup. In Blueman I go to recent connections and choose the connection that I previously used. This enables me to get sound on spotify, youtube, auda...

How you do that depends upon which version of Mint (17.x? 18.x? 19?) you are using, and which Desktop Environment (Cinnamon? MATE? XFCE?). On Mint 17.3 XFCE, right click on the Menu button, then click Move.
Mint 18.1, Cinnamon 3.27, Kernel 4.4.0-130 low latency.

Menu on the wrong side.

On my panel, I somehow moved my menu applet to the right side and cannot move it back to the left side. The panel is at the bottom of the screen.

Re: Qjackctrl won't start

I'd suggest opening the Software Manager, type in jackd , and see if Jackd is installed along with either Jackd1 or Jackd2. If you don't have Jackd installed, that's probably the source of your troubles. I also have Jackd2 installed, but that may not be important in your case. Jackd and jackd2 are ...

60 vs. 85 Hz Monitor refresh rate?

I currently have a 22" LCD LG monitor with a 60 Hz. screen refresh rate. I saw an ad for a Viewsonic 24" LCD monitor with an 85 HZ screen refresh rate.

Would most people notice any difference?

Thanks

Just solved my own problem. Audacity loads and plays these x-wave files. I can then export the sound file and save as a .ogg file.
